Position Summary
The Assistant Bakery Manager supports the Bakery Manager in overseeing daily bakery operations, ensuring high standards of product quality, food safety, merchandising, and customer service. This role helps lead and develop bakery staff while maintaining efficient workflows, strong sales performance, and compliance with company policies.
Key Responsibilities Operations & Production Assist in planning and executing daily bakery production to meet sales demand and freshness standards Ensure proper baking, finishing, labeling, and display of all bakery items Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and company procedures Help monitor inventory levels, ordering, receiving, and rotation of products Support merchandising plans, promotions, and seasonal programs Customer Service Provide exceptional customer service and resolve customer concerns promptly Ensure bakery displays are full, attractive, and aligned with merchandising standards Uphold a welcoming, friendly, and service‑focused bakery environment Team Leadership & Training Support hiring, onboarding, training, and coaching of bakery associates Assist in scheduling and daily work assignments Lead by example to promote teamwork, accountability, and positive morale Step in to manage department operations in the Bakery Manager’s absence Sales & Performance Assist with sales planning, shrink control, and labor efficiency Monitor product quality, waste, and markdowns Support initiatives to grow department sales and profitability Safety & Compliance Ensure adherence to food safety regulations, cleanliness standards, and workplace safety practices Promote correct use of equipment and proper handling of ingredients Qualifications Previous bakery, food service, or retail leadership experience preferred Basic knowledge of baking principles, production planning, and food safety Strong customer service and communication skills Ability to supervise, motivate, and train team members Organized, detail‑oriented, and able to prioritize in a fast‑paced environment Ability to lift, bend, stand for extended periods, and work flexible hours including weekends and holidays Core Competencies Leadership and teamwork Time management and organization Quality and freshness focus Customer‑first mindset Problem solving and decision making
