PWM Asia is seeking a Vice President in the Portfolio Management Group (PMG) team in Hong Kong. The person filling this position would present multi-asset class solutions to existing and prospective clients and their advisors across Asia. It is a position in a fast-paced environment where portfolio management expertise, quantitative analysis and strong communication skills are essential to thrive and grow the business.
Portfolio Management Group (PMG)
The Portfolio Management Group (PMG) is a multi-asset class investing group that sits within the Private Wealth Management Division at Goldman Sachs. PMG specializes in the discretionary management of portfolios across traditional and alternative asset classes and provides outsourced CIO services to private clients as well as select institutions.
The team leverages and combines the independent strategic and tactical asset allocation framework of the Investment Strategy Group (ISG) of Private Wealth Management, a rigorous investment process and an open-architecture investment platform, to construct customized risk-focused portfolios.
Responsibilities
The candidate will be working with Private Wealth Advisors (PWAs) and their clients to help them understand the attributes and risks of different investment strategies and construct client portfolios that are in line with the strategic and tactical views of the Investment Strategy Group, PMG investment philosophy, client guidelines and regulatory constraints.
How you will fulfil your potential
Participate in client and prospective client meetings with PWAs to articulate Investment Strategy Group (ISG) strategic and tactical investment views, investment process, and portfolio implementation Recommend implementation of diversified portfolios for specific clients and prospects that conform to ISG recommendations and client objectives and constraintsAddress specific portfolio construction/implementation questions regarding asset allocation, product positioning, performance and attribution directly or using other wealth solution teams as necessary Develop materials including asset allocation proposals and competitive analyses on various products, leveraging external and internal resourcesAssist in multi-asset portfolio management, including portfolio construction, investment manager/vehicle selection, portfolio analytics, performance attribution, and rebalancing Contribute to retaining existing business and developing new businesses across AsiaWork with other areas of ISG and the broader firm, including GSAM, Legal, Compliance and Technology teams
Skills and Experience we’re looking for
Minimum of 7 years of multi-asset investment-related experience. Experience in portfolio construction and portfolio management is preferred. Advanced experience in fundamental investment concepts, with the analytical flexibility to evaluate strategies within a broad range of asset/sub-asset classes. Exercise good judgment and risk management. Excellent attention to detail. Client experience is required. Good communication skills, both spoken and written. Proficiency in English and Mandarin Chinese is a must. A self-starter with the ability to work efficiently with others.
