Summary

Position Highlights:

The Security Armorer is an armed security position responsible for the secure storage, repairs, preventative maintenance, and testing of firearms on-site including duty firearms, drill/exercise weapons and tasers used by the Security team. The Armorer develops and maintains documentation and reports on weapon and ammunition inventory. This position provides recommendations on new and existing firearms upgrades and ballistics. The Security Armorer operates weapon repair equipment including milling machine, grinder, polisher sander, turning lathe, etc. In addition, the Security Armorer will be responsible for carrying out responsibilities for the Armed Security Officer position as assigned.

 

Credentials and Qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED. At least five (5) years of law enforcement experience. Military service or armed healthcare security experience may be substituted on a one for one basis. At least one (1) year of experience in firearms instruction, firearms repair, and/or firing range operations. Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with training for certifications fitness assessment as required by the employer. Must be able to pass a psychological screening as required by employer. Must be able to pass an armed security officer assessment panel as required by employer. Must be able to pass firearms qualifications course as required by employer. Valid Florida Driver’s License. Armorer Certification (must obtain within six (6) months of hire). Florida Class “G” Firearm License. Florida Class “D” Security Officer License. Certification in BLS (must obtain within six (6) months of hire). “Stop the Bleed” (must obtain within six (6) months of hire). Axon/Taser Instructor Certification (must obtain within six (6) months of hire). IAHSS Basic Certification (must obtain within 90 days of hire). AVADE Level II Self Defense (must obtain within 90 days of hire). AVADE Level III Defense Control Certification (must obtain within 90 days of hire).

Preferred:

Ten (10) years of law enforcement experience. One (1) year Security experience with Moffitt Cancer Center. Three (3) years’ experience as a certified law enforcement firearms instructor. Experience as a certified armorer maintaining an armory inventory. Experience as a certified Taser® instructor. Attended a certified Law Enforcement or Military Armorer Training Course.
