The Area Manager, Bulk Solutions is responsible for providing leadership and hands-on support for the production and manufacturing of solutions chemistry, ensuring all customer requirements are met. This position oversees the performance of a team, adjusts departmental plans to meet operational needs, and delivers technical guidance to support efficient, high-quality operations.

This position is part of the Sourcing team and is located in Ames, Iowa. It will be onsite.

In this role, a typical day will look like:

Provide daily supervision to a team of chemical technicians to ensure that internal and external customer demands are met while maintaining safe working conditions and delivering high-quality products.Manage projects and set direction for all areas of responsibility.Lead teams in achieving short- and long-term operational objectives by applying continuous improvement and lean manufacturing methodologies, supported by data-driven action planning.Collaborate with cross-functional departments to evaluate customer orders alongside available labor and materials to develop plans to meet delivery objectives.Manage labor resources and strengthen cross-training to enhance flexibility across Chemical Synthesis, Bulk Powders and production.Communicate timely and relevant business information to engage all associates in operational excellence.Ensure associates within areas of responsibility understand and comply with work policies and procedures.Identify and solve technical and operational problems utilizing cross functional teams.Develop growth plans, provide coaching, career planning, evaluate performance and make merit recommendations. Work closely with HR to address performance and behavior.Responsible for team retention, engagement, and hiring as needed with alignment of company best practices.Maintain departmental audit-readiness and ensure compliance with regulatory bodies such as ISO, FDA, EPA, and others as required.Oversee the safe and effective use of department equipment, including glass-lined jacket reactors, stainless steel jacketed reactors, mixing equipment, and lab instrumentation/equipment.Perform other duties as assigned to support department and organizational needs.

The essential requirements of the job include:

Minimum 2 years of leadership experience.Minimum 3 years of relevant experience (e.g., chemical manufacturing, solutions manufacturing)Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related scientific discipline.Technical understanding of industrial solution preparation is preferred.Basic financial understanding, knowledge of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).Experience in planning batch manufacturing around labor, raw materials, and equipment constraints preferred.Advanced oral and written communication skills; able to communicate effectively with senior leadership and associates at all levels.Ability to analyze data and apply fact-based problem-solving skills.Strong project and time management skills.Experience with lean manufacturing tools (e.g., Kaizen, Kanban, root cause analysis, countermeasures)

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.

The compensation range for this role is $82000.00 - $97000.00 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.

We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
