The Area Major Project PMO Director drives area’s project management capability to achieve and maintain competitive advantage through excellence in customer project management. The role will guide and collaborate closely with the countries PMO, project managers and project management teams.
The person will monitor and support project and portfolio management, project execution and portfolio performance in the geographical area of Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Türkiye and Africa (APM). Own the Project Management Governance model with planning, forecasting and reporting. Work with Pricing to support Sales in developing winning tenders for specific opportunities.

Establish and promote service-minded culture and outside-in thinking in customer project management, and drive the adaptation of best practices related to customer journey and customer experience managementCapture and feed Voice of Customer throughout the customer project; especially related to how KONE manages the projectProject Management Governance
The MP PMO Director owns the MP Project Management Governance model and is responsible for its review, updating and deployment across the APM Area. The model defines the responsibilities and accountabilities of both Area and Front Lines and specifically includes:
Project AuditsRisk and Opportunity (R&O) Management analysis, from pre-tender through to the Project execution periodTender reviews and sign-offProject financial reviewsProject Steering ReviewsProject monitoring reviews, such as PCGsStart-up meetingsProgram and Project Management
Measure, monitor and support project portfolio planning, forecasting and executionFacilitate portfolio governanceProvide guidance in tender development and project planning, execution and governanceOptimize project management resources and their allocation across the portfolioSupport and coach project managers, perform project reviewsOngoing review of Project Management tools and where required drive development and deploymentLeadership and People Development
Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making to develop and implement a strategy for MP Project Management that is aligned with the organization’s overall vision and its current and long-term business objectives.Project management development across APM leading to internal / external certificationsDevelop a pipeline of Senior Project Managers who can take on larger, more complex projects in differing FLs/countries.Lead and develop the PMO team and project management professionals to achieve budget, safety, quality and customer satisfaction goals. Identify and address competence development needs for project managers, planners, project and order admins, and quantity surveyors Contribute to Delivery Operations strategic planning and decision-making to drive project management capabilities in line with the overall vision and business objectivesDelivery Operations Management
Work with other Delivery Operations staff and teams to ensure correct and consistent use of project management policy, processes and tools, and appropriate resource allocation to support thisBusiness Performance
Measure and monitor project portfolio performance, identify improvement opportunities and drive actions to improve business performanceSet targets for and manage the performance of the PMO teamEstablish PMO budget and monitor customer service, safety, quality and financial performance to optimize resources and prioritize investmentsProvide input and feedback about changes needed to KONE WayRequirements
Minimum 15 years of related experience, with at least 3 years as a PMO Director or Project Director for large-scale projects. Customer relationship management skills and experienceCustomer project management and portfolio management skills and experienceKnowledge of construction industry contracts, business practices and their managementFinancial, business and process management knowledgeBasic knowledge of installation methods and site managementExperience and are comfortable working in a matrix environment, ability to influence stakeholders, develop strong collaboration to move projects forward. Experience in project management forecasting, cash flow management and understanding the risks and opportunities within projects. Ability to coach and develop Project Managers / Director for countries within APM.Knowledgeable and proficient in project management tools.Note: To be based in Singapore, applicants must either be a Singaporean or Singapore Permanent Resident (SPR).
