Job Description

The Area Director of Public Relations is a strategic and creative leader responsible for managing and implementing all Public Relations and Communications activities for a portfolio of assigned Anantara hotels and resorts. This role is pivotal in shaping and elevating the brand's narrative across all channels, with a focus on maximizing brand visibility, driving revenue, and achieving commercial objectives.

This role is focused on creating and maintaining a high-profile and positive image for the assigned hotels and resorts and encouraging customer preference by effectively communicating with media, digital influencers, and industry partners. The successful candidate will work directly with the hotel teams and with the support of the Global PR team to achieve local, regional, and international exposure, manage media relations, and build loyalty amongst top-tier media and key opinion leaders (KOLs) on behalf of the hotels and the brand.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Act as the primary media contact for the assigned properties, fostering and maintaining strong relationships with top-tier international, regional, and local journalists, editors, and freelance writers.Develop and manage the annual PR budget, ensuring all activities are executed within financial guidelines and deliver a strong return on investment.Develop compelling stories that support the brand's DNA and are tailored to diverse media audiences, from traditional print to digital platforms. Develop and execute comprehensive PR strategies that align with brand values and business goals. This includes creating compelling press kits, managing press releases, and coordinating high-impact media events and familiarization trips. Craft and implement a forward-thinking digital PR strategy to increase brand visibility and engagement across online platforms. Oversee the development of compelling digital content, including blog posts, social media stories, and video content that resonates with our target audience.Monitor and analyze digital trends and brand mentions to proactively manage the brand's online reputation in conjunction with internal teams.Identify, vet, and build strong, authentic relationships with a diverse network of travel influencers, content creators, and digital opinion leaders.Develop and manage collaborative campaigns with influencers to generate authentic, high-quality content and drive measurable results.Explore and secure strategic partnerships with luxury brands, airlines, and tourism boards to amplify reach and create unique guest experiences.Serve as a key member of the crisis communications team, developing and implementing strategies to protect and mitigate reputational risks.Liaise closely with the Marketing team (and all internal departments) on all campaigns, influencer partnerships, and content initiatives to ensure a cohesive and integrated brand message across all platforms.Lead and mentor the PR team, fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, and collaboration.Track, analyze, and report on the effectiveness of PR campaigns using relevant metrics (e.g., media value, reach, engagement, sentiment analysis), providing insights and recommendations for future strategies.

QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in public relations, with a proven track record of leading a PR team for international operations, preferably within the luxury hospitality or tourism sector.Exceptional verbal and written English skills are mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages is a significant asset.Demonstrable expertise in developing and executing comprehensive digital PR strategies, including social media, influencer PR, and content creation.A sound understanding of photography, video production, and content requirements for media channels.Proven and extensive network of media contacts, digital influencers, and key opinion leaders within the luxury travel and lifestyle space.Highly proactive, dynamic, and able to succeed in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and multi-property environment.Proficient in using computer software, publishing systems, and PR measurement tools.Willing and able to travel as deemed necessary to visit the assigned properties.
