We proactively address emerging needs by delivering breakthrough innovations that empower laboratories to confidently identify pathogens impacting community health, maintain safe blood supplies, and connect those diagnosed with disease to the care they need. **POSITION SUMMARY** This position plays a critical role in overseeing finance operations specific to the Japan entity. While routine accounting tasks are handled by the Shared Services team in Manila, the Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and compliance of Japan-specific financial activities. This includes maintaining books in accordance with both US GAAP and JP GAAP, reviewing monthly closings, and handling tax and regulatory matters. The role also focuses on driving process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and ensure alignment with global finance standards. **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES** **Accounting & Tax Operations:** + Review monthly financial statements and journal entries for monthly and annual closing + Review reports prepared by the Shared Services team + Approve finance-related transactions in Coupa and Esker + Prepare for tax filings, including financial statements and tax provision calculations using global formats + Manage payroll and Japan-specific accounting tasks (e.g., information provision fees, wholesale campaign coordination) + Maintain and update accounting policies relevant to Japan **Audit & Compliance:** + Support internal and external audits + Coordinate with judicial scriveners and legal advisors for Board and Shareholders’ Meeting documentation + Manage relationships with external vendors (audit firms, tax advisors, legal professionals, banks, card companies) **Transfer Pricing & Collaboration:** + Work with Japan’s FP&A and Procurement teams to gather data + Collaborate with the U.S. Transfer Pricing team for pricing decisions **Process Improvement & Projects:** + Participate in finance-related and cross-functional projects + Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy **Others / Ad-hoc Responsibilities:** + Support company-wide initiatives as needed, including internal committees, corporate events, and cross-departmental projects + Handle ad-hoc tasks outside of core accounting when required to support business operations **QUALIFICATIONS:** + University degree or equivalent diploma + Minimum 5 years of finance/accounting experience, including US GAAP and JGAAP + Nissho Bookkeeping Level 2 or above (USCPA preferred) + Strong skills in MS Excel and ERP systems (SAP preferred) + Business-level English and fluent Japanese (oral and written) + Experience in tax filing tasks and working in multinational or healthcare organizations is a plus **KEY RESULT AREAS & KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATOR** + Timely completion of closing processes + Strong commitment to improving the control environment + Proactive and self-motivated mindset + High level of integrity and professionalism + Positive attitude and team leadership An Equal Opportunity Employer Abbot welcomes and encourages diversity in our workforce.
