ARD Embedded Systems Engineer
**Position Summary:** ARD Embedded Systems engineer will be responsible for developing and leading new and innovative programs related to Penske’s Advanced Remote Diagnostics initiative. They will focus on hardware, software and applications, used for embedding diagnostics, sensor integrations and vehicle management. ARD will enable technicians to remotely diagnose commercial vehicles, reducing downtime and increasing shop capacity, while strategically aligning for Maintenance Diagnostic Vision. This is new technology which allows Penske to stay ahead of our competition and continue to drive added value for new and existing customers. **This is a hybrid position requiring the chosen candidate to report on site to Penske's corporate headquarters in Green Hills, PA.** **Major Responsibilities** : + Collaborative development of hardware and software functions/capabilities. Must understand what soft tools are available in the field today and work with suppliers and developers to have seamless functionality on the ARD device + Develop and enforce installation quality control processes. To include creating installation instructions of devices in each applicable OEM chassis. + Develop container applications through coding. The applications should be compatible, effective and efficient. Collaborate with stakeholders (technical and business) to gather, organize, and align requirements towards device, software, constraints and business/functional requirements for application development and deployment. + Escalation of Emerging Issues/Trends If trends are identified indicating, but not limited to, insufficient training or defective parts or systems of the embedded system; it must be communicated to the correct teams. By doing so, we will be able to mitigate any emerging issues that would impact our fleet's health as well as provide the correct training where needed to increase productivity and customers' uptime. + Manage customer deployment targets and schedules. Responsible for working with field locations and customers for effective and consistent coverage. + Other projects and tasks as assigned. **Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s Degree required in Mechanical Engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering, embedded systems, computer engineering or related fields. + Master’s Degree preferred + Six Sigma Green Belt Preferred + Minimum 5 years of experience required embedded engineering experience: Coding (Python/C++), Linux, Containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), interfaces and testing + Minimum 5 years of experience required understanding of vehicle electrical architecture, with preferred experience with vehicle telematics. Required understanding of complex systems with data integration, ingestion, and management + Professional communication skills both written and verbal. + Understanding of Vehicle Network Architecture and IT Architecture + Interpret technical specs of hardware + Basic mechanical skills + Project Management Skills + Coding in C/C++ and Python + Linux experience + DevOps Experience + Advanced presentation, collaboration and time management skills. + Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job + Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required. **Physical Requirements:** • The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
