Reporting to the Design Director, you'll collaborate with UX designers, UX researchers, Human Factors Engineers, front-end developers, product managers and clinical applications specialists to deliver products under the umbrella of Imaging, which enable care teams to better manage patients, imaging workflows and health system resources. Essential Responsibilities:
Design-to-Code Translation
Work with UX designers to translate wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes into clean, semantic, and accessible HTML, CSS and other appropriate code languages
Use our EDS (Ethos Design System) to compile responsive components and implementations
Create reusable front-end components that can be easily consumed by development teams
Ensure pixel-perfect implementation of visual designs while maintaining cross-browser compatibility
Technical Collaboration
Partner with UX designers to understand design intent, interactions and user experience requirements
Work embedded within engineering sprints to provide technical design guidance and code reviews
Collaborate with back-end developers to integrate front-end components with APIs and data services
Provide technical feasibility feedback during the design process to inform design decisions
Design System & Standards
Contribute to and maintain the front-end implementation of our design system
Establish coding standards and best practices for design implementation
Create documentation and guidelines for developers on implementing design patterns
Ensure consistency in component behavior and styling across products
Prototyping & Innovation
Build interactive prototypes to validate design concepts and user flows
Experiment with emerging front-end technologies and frameworks to enhance user experiences
Create proof-of-concept implementations for complex interactions and animations
Support user research by building testable prototypes for usability studies
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) or Human-Computer Interaction with a minimum of 6+ years of experience in Software Engineering preferably in front-end development with strong design sensibilities.
Expert proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and modern CSS preprocessors/frameworks
Experience with component-based frameworks (React, Angular) and design system implementation
Proven experience working closely with UX/UI designers and translating designs into code
Advanced skills in design tools (Figma, Adobe CS) and development tools (Git, build systems, browser dev tools)
Understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards (WCAG), and cross-browser compatibility
Desired Characteristics
Experience with healthcare or regulated industry software development
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies and design sprints
Knowledge of performance optimization, progressive enhancement, and modern web standards
Experience with testing frameworks and automated testing for front-end code
Understanding of design tokens, CSS-in-JS, and modern styling architectures
Experience with animation libraries and complex interaction implementation
Background in user experience design or human-computer interaction
Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
Excellent communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
