We are currently seeking a Part-Time Sheet Metal Apprenticeship Instructor to deliver high-quality, in-person instruction to apprentices enrolled in a Department of Labor (DOL)-approved Registered Apprenticeship Program. Instruction is held during evening hours to accommodate working apprentices, with classes scheduled from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM EST on two weeknights, and occasional Saturdays (up to 8 hours) as needed. Please note: classroom schedule is subject to change based on program needs.\n

This role requires a combination of technical expertise, instructional skill, and a commitment to supporting apprentices as they advance in their careers.\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDeliver evening, in-person instruction aligned with DOL Registered Apprenticeship Standards and NCCER curriculum.\nPrepare and present lesson plans and instructional materials in advance.\nFoster a safe, inclusive, and productive learning environment for all students.\nCollaborate with the apprenticeship team, field supervisors, and administrative staff to ensure program compliance and support apprentice development.\nMaintain accurate attendance, training records, and student evaluations.\nAdhere to all RQ safety practices and classroom expectations.\nPromote and uphold RQ's Mission, Vision, and Values in all instructional activities.\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\nHigh School Diploma or GED (Associate Degree or higher preferred).\nMinimum of four (4) years of relevant field experience in Sheet Metal systems.\nNCCER Certification in Sheet Metal OR willingness to obtain NCCER Instructor Certification.\nAssessment Proctor & Evaluator experience.\nCPR, First Aid, and OSHA 30 Certifications (training provided if needed).\nBasic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills.\nAbility to manage time effectively, prepare lessons, and maintain accurate documentation.\nMust be dependable, punctual, and adaptable to changing class schedules.\nAuthorized to work in the U.S. and able to pass a drug screening and criminal background check (including DoD background check for military base access).\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nPrior teaching, training, or mentorship experience.\nCoursework or certification in construction management or apprenticeship training.\nMilitary, government, or large commercial project experience.\nFamiliarity with NCCER training standards and materials.\n\nWhy Join RQ?\n\nMake a lasting impact by training the next generation of skilled sheet metal workers.\nPart-time hours with evening flexibility to accommodate your schedule.\nOpportunity to grow your leadership and teaching skills in a supportive environment.\nBe part of a mission-driven organization focused on safety, integrity, and excellence.\n\nApply Today\n
