No relocation funds available, must be within 50 miles of Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD or willing to waive travel requirements.

Job Summary:

The HVAC Apprentice assists HVAC Journeyman in the performance of preventive maintenance inspections, diagnostics and corrective maintenance on heating hot water boilers, chillers, piping, pumps, air separators/expansion tanks, air handlers, fan coils, exhaust fans, cooling towers, air compressors, dampers, coils (HW, CW, DX), motors, control valves, pressure reducing valves, relief valves, and all other support systems as needed. They replace piping systems; cut, bend, fabricate using steel, copper, PVC and associated fittings specific to the type of pipe being used to connect new equipment installations and replacements.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Assist HVAC Journeyman with inspections, diagnostics, and maintenance of HVAC systems and components.Support repair and upkeep of equipment such as boilers, chillers, pumps, air handlers, fan coils, and compressors.Help install and replace piping systems using steel, copper, and PVC, including cutting and fabricating materials.Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.Perform general tasks related to HVAC system support and equipment installation.

Basic Qualifications:

High school degree or equivalent. In lieu of diploma or equivalent, trade school certifications can be used for credit towards years of experience.0-4 years of experience in the HVAC field.Must be enrolled in the UA Local Union 486 Apprenticeship Program that includes HVAC Maintenance and Services training.Must be either a member in good standing of UA Local Union 486 or willing to become a member.Must be able to pass customer background check.Must possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.

Compensation:  $50,200 - $75,300. The salary range posted is for Maryland locations. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience, contract affordability, and in consideration of internal parity.
