Applications Engineer Internship Renewable (Solar) Technology (Fall Internship)

Siemens Smart Infrastructure is looking for interns for our Electrification and Automation division in Wendell, NC to support our portfolio of protection and automation products and solutions. A variety of opportunities are available across the business supporting project design tasks, operations, product development, special projects and process improvements. On-site requirement is hybrid, based on project work, as will expected working hours up to 29 hours / week.

The focus of this role will be to work closely with the PV Applications Engineering team on the principles of Solar Plant engineering analysis in the utility market to understand design, critical parameters, overall product management and develop key utility solutions for our customers.

The Intern will use their analytical skills to understand the customer needs and develop pricing proposals and solutions on Siemens Utility solutions and options. The intent is to provide customers with solutions that best meet their needs and assist in winning projects with the overall key Siemens product lines for large Utility and Community Solar projects.

In addition to this, the Intern will review current Marketing and Promotional material to assist our Marketing team to generate Siemens PV messaging and benefits of working with Siemens.

You’ll make an impact by: Help communicate the value of Siemens solar solutions to support customer engagement and project wins.Work with Applications and Project Management teams to develop comprehensive pricing packages that include options, shipping, commissioning, and payment terms.Contribute to marketing initiatives by reviewing and enhancing promotional materials and messaging.Support the creation and refinement of Siemens datasheets, whitepapers, and manuals for solar customers.Coordinate with suppliers and partners to verify cost accuracy and ensure profit targets are met.Review, update, and streamline pricing spreadsheets to create an easy-to-use proposal tool for the Sales team.Assist in developing tailored pricing proposals and customer solutions for Siemens Utility and Community Solar projects.Collaborate with the PV Applications Engineering team to support utility-scale solar plant design and analysis.You'll win us over with the follow qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student studying Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical EngineeringNo housing or travel/relocation compensation provided

Preferred Qualifications:

3D modeling/drafting experience (Solidworks, AutoCAD, NX)Mechanical design knowledge and basic electrical concept knowledgeAbility to prioritize work and meet project deadlinesGood verbal and written communication skillsExperience with MS office products with proficiency in MS works, Excel and PowerPointYou’ll benefit from:Siemens offers a variety of health and wellness benefits to our employees.
