Application Scientist - Dispersion

PURPOSE & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

This role will provide support to the growth of PCG dispersion business in Asia through the execution of technical projects focusing on dispersant/additive evaluation, dispersion formulation and process study as well as new raw material qualifications for dispersions. This role will also work with other functions to ensure smooth product transfer/localization and provide technical service to customers.

 

 

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with global technical manager (dispersions) and regional commercial team to define the regional dispersion project portfolio. Carry our hands-on lab work and deliver on regional application projects within the agreed timeframe with the support from global technical teams. Document, interpret and communicate results to colleagues and internal project sponsors. Establish Lubrizol intellectual property as appropriate.   Present scientific data at internal/external meetings and participate in customer meetings/visits to support PCG dispersion business growth in Asia. Strengthen regional dispersion capabilities, and enhance the structure-property relationship understanding, raw material / formulation / process knowledge of dispersions. Follow safe laboratory practices. Maintain lab equipment and ensure EHS&5S. Act as the technical lead in dispersion product localization.

REQUIRMENTS – EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:

 

Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering or similar.  Advanced degree considered a plus. Minimum 5 years’ lab working experience in pigment dispersions, digital printing, or related areas. Knowledge and experience with safe laboratory practices and sound scientific methodology. Good project management skills, with experience of managing multiple projects to deadlines. Ability to present scientific data to a diverse audience. Good communication, team working and interpersonal skills, to be successful in a multidisciplinary environment. Ability to travel (up to 30% of the time). English language proficiency required.
