In this role, you’ll play a critical part in delivering and supporting our cutting-edge **FlexNet Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) SaaS solutions** , helping utilities and communities better manage water, gas, and electric resources. You’ll collaborate closely with our Software Solutions team to **release, enhance, and troubleshoot FlexNet products** , while also serving as a Tier 3 escalation point for customer support. Your work will include **remotely commissioning and maintaining AMI solutions,** developing automation and support tools, and participating in Tier 2 on-call rotations. Every team member is empowered to be a subject-matter expert, maintaining deep knowledge of our FlexNet solutions to drive innovation and customer success. This is an opportunity to apply your expertise in application support, process automation, and tool development in a role where your contributions directly impact the reliability and performance of critical infrastructure. **Core Responsibilities:** + Design, build, and maintain innovative technical processes along with web and command-line tools that keep our solutions running at peak performance. + Tackle complex challenges with sharp analytical and debugging skills—leveraging creativity and a strong software aptitude to deliver effective solutions. + Take ownership as a proactive self-starter, driving projects forward with initiative and independence. + Share knowledge and empower others by creating clear operational documentation and leading internal training sessions. + Make a difference through active participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer initiatives, supporting communities worldwide. ​ **Qualifications:** **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. **Experience:** 5+ years in software development and/or engineering, with a strong background in building and supporting technical solutions. **Technical Expertise:** + Proficiency with **Linux (Red Hat/others) and Windows** operating systems. + Hands-on experience with **MS SQL** and **Postgres** databases. + Solid **SQL and Python** development skills. + **API integration** experience to connect systems and streamline processes. + Familiarity with **Unix/Linux shell commands** . **Soft Skills:** + Excellent written and verbal communication across peers, end-users, and leadership. + Strong organizational habits, with effective email and note-taking discipline. + A **self-motivated team player** who thrives under general supervision and actively supports collaborative efforts. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Understanding of **IP networking** and **cloud architectures** . + Exposure to **machine learning** concepts. + Background in **software solutions/programming** environments. + Security knowledge in **OpenVPN, encryption, firewalls, LDAP, and password management** .
