Digital Products and Applications at PepsiCo The Digital Evolution is critical to driving PepsiCo’s ambitions around being FASTER, STRONGER, and BETTER. The Digital Products & Services team designs, builds, and stands up digital solutions across the value chain, that are embedded into business processes to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain high ROI. Guided by PEPSICO’s global priorities, the Digital Products & Services team create user-centric digital products that can be scaled globally by leveraging the leading technologies, advanced analytics algorithms and latest user research. Application Architect The Application Architect will play a pivotal role in software development activities and long-term initiative planning and collaboration across the Strategy & Transformation (S&T) organization. Software Engineering is the cornerstone of scalable digital transformation across PepsiCo’s value chain. This leader will establish an end-to-end vision of the overall application design and provide technology leadership to the application architecture in terms of focus, technical direction, and breadth of coverage of relevant technologies. Responsibilities Manufacturing Architect. Architecture Design. Define and drive the end-to-end architecture for manufacturing solutions, integrating production planning and operations management. Ensure alignment with manufacturing objectives, industry best practices, and emerging trends in digital manufacturing transformation. Design scalable, modular, and API-driven solutions that integrate seamlessly with ERP, Manufacturing controls systems MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), and other supply chain systems Define and drive architecture for manufacturing solutions, incorporating Industry 5.0 principles and AI technologies. Ensure alignment with business objectives and emerging trends in Industry 5.0, focusing on human-machine collaboration and sustainable practices. Leadership & Collaboration. Demonstrated passion for excellence with respect to engineering services and support. Passion for excellence in engineering services related to AI-enabled manufacturing. Strong interpersonal skills to navigate and influence within a complex and matrixed manufacturing environment. Ability to work collaboratively with regional and global partners in other functional units. Strategy. Develop and guide a team of engineers to build and support digital manufacturing products and applications. Work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and mentor a team of engineers across remote locations. Lead narratives with executives on AI impacts and Industry 5.0 advancements in manufacturing. Manage and escalate delivery impediments, risks, and issues tied to manufacturing engineering initiatives. Develop application architecture strategy in alignment with manufacturing business goals. Ensure adherence to enterprise-wide architecture processes, principles, policies, and standards. Understand business drivers and strategies to mitigate risks in manufacturing solutions. Architecture & Governance. Define development guidelines and standards for manufacturing application development and integration. Analyze current IT architecture to identify weaknesses and suggest improvements. Develop strategies for transitioning to future manufacturing application architectures. Design detailed architecture for manufacturing application development and oversee its evolution. Deliver technical design documents including logical architectures and database schemas. Establish guidelines for developing AI applications and seamless integration with manufacturing systems. Innovation. Identify AI technologies that enable Industry 4.0 and 5.0 processes in manufacturing. Lead development of AI and general prototypes and proof of concepts. Collaborate on building reference architecture for AI and Industry 5.0 frameworks. Compensation and Benefits: The expected compensation range for this position is between $118,700 - $198,800. Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process. Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 15% of annual salary paid out annually. Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement. Qualifications A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 14 years of relevant manufacturing engineering and leadership experience. Strong experience in production planning, inventory management, quality control, and process optimization. Expertise in Manfacturing controls, execution and operations system and its integration with ERP integrations (SAP S/4HANA, Oracle ERP). Deep understanding of manufacturing models, lean manufacturing, just-in-time production, and compliance with industry standards. 7+ years of experience architecting fault-tolerant, high-scale manufacturing systems. Commanding knowledge of process optimization and automation technologies. Working knowledge of programming languages beyond traditional industrial controllers (e.g., Python, Java for IoT applications). Experience with cloud-based manufacturing solutions and industrial IoT platforms (Azure IoT, AWS IoT). Experience with mission-critical, 24x7 manufacturing systems. Experience with high-throughput, cloud-native manufacturing systems. Experience implementing and consuming large-scale web services in manufacturing settings. Deep knowledge of design patterns for manufacturing systems. Experience with data analytics tools for manufacturing performance analysis. Full-stack engineering experience with a focus on manufacturing applications. Preferred Qualifications for Manufacturing Role. Experience in supply chain management, including transport and warehousing systems. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Ability to interface with manufacturing business units to understand their needs and priorities. Ability to work cross-functionally with product design, service design, and operations teams. Demonstrated passion for excellence in manufacturing engineering services, training, and support. Strong interpersonal skills to navigate a complex and matrixed manufacturing environment. Ability to collaborate with regional and global partners across functional units. Ability to influence and lead across cultures at a senior level in a manufacturing context.
