Job Title: Accounts Payable Supervisor

Job Description

The Accounts Payable Supervisor leads and supports day-to-day accounts payable operations while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all payables processes. This hands-on leadership role combines team management, process oversight, and transactional support, including reviewing AP work, executing payment runs, and stepping in during high-volume periods. The supervisor partners closely with internal teams to maintain an efficient workflow and continuously improves AP processes, controls, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

Supervise and support the daily operations of the Accounts Payable team.Review and approve accounts payable work, including invoice processing, coding, and 2-way and 3-way matching.Review and approve employee expense reports to ensure accuracy and policy compliance.Oversee and execute check runs and payment processing, including ACH, wire transfers, and other payment methods.Serve as backup support for AP processing during high-volume periods or coverage gaps.Ensure all payments are processed accurately and on schedule in accordance with company policies and vendor terms.Monitor accounts payable aging reports and proactively resolve discrepancies, issues, or disputes with vendors.Partner with internal teams such as procurement, accounting, and operations to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow.Identify and implement opportunities to improve AP processes, internal controls, and operational efficiency.Assist with month-end close activities related to accounts payable, including reconciliations and reporting.Ensure compliance with company policies and support audit requirements related to accounts payable.Maintain accurate records of invoices, purchase orders, and payment documentation for audit and reporting purposes.Support full-cycle accounts payable activities, including purchase order matching, general ledger coding, and reconciliation.Provide guidance, mentoring, and support to AP staff to promote accuracy, customer service, and professional development.Use Excel tools such as pivot tables and VLOOKUPs to analyze AP data and support reporting needs.

Essential Skills

5+ years of accounts payable experience, with lead or supervisory experience preferred.Strong understanding of end-to-end accounts payable processes, including full-cycle AP and 2-way / 3-way matching.Experience managing or mentoring a team in an accounts payable or accounting environment.Hands-on experience with high-volume invoice processing and payment cycles.Proven experience overseeing and executing check runs and other payment methods such as ACH and wire transfers.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and basic reporting.Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar platforms.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.Ability to balance leadership responsibilities with hands-on transactional work.Strong customer service orientation when working with vendors and internal stakeholders.Solid understanding of general ledger coding, reconciliations, and month-end close activities related to AP.Accurate data entry skills and familiarity with invoicing, purchase orders, and way match processes.

Work Environment

The role follows a standard full-time schedule, generally from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some flexibility on start and end times. The position operates in a professional office environment using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar platforms, along with Microsoft Excel for reporting and analysis. The work involves high-volume invoice processing, regular payment cycles, and collaboration with internal teams and external vendors. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $45.67/hr.
