Position Overview
The AP Staff Accountant is an entry-level accounting position reporting to the Accounts Payable Supervisor. This role is responsible for supporting the company’s accounts payable processes and assisting with month-end close procedures related to the general ledger. The position provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience in transactional accounting and financial reporting within a collaborative team environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Accounts Payable Operations
Process vendor invoices in the Spectrum ERP system with accuracy and efficiency Match invoices to purchase orders, receiving documentation, or other supporting documentation Assist with lien waiver preparation and collection of certificates of insurance as needed Participate in weekly payment processing and maintain organized AP records Communicate with vendors and internal staff to resolve discrepancies Manage credit card transaction reconciliation and supporting documentation Support additional AP-related tasks and projects as assigned by the AP Supervisor Backup Receptionist/AP CoordinatorMonth-End and General Ledger Support
Support account reconciliations and month-end closing procedures Prepare journal entries related to leases, fixed assets, and depreciation Help prepare standard and ad-hoc reports related to AP and purchasing activity Assist with annual fixed assets count and verification Provide documentation and support for internal and external audits
Qualifications and Requirements
Required
Bachelor’s degree. Accounting, Finance or Business Administration. 0–2 years of relevant work experience (internships or part-time roles welcomed) Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general Microsoft Office tools Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently with guidance, and manage time effectively Professional written and verbal communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred
Experience in construction or service industries is a plus. Experience using ERP systems (e.g., Spectrum) is a plus.
Language Skills
Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of customer, employees, unions, government agencies, vendors and suppliers, and other contractor organizations.
