We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to lead the AP Decontamination team, reporting directly to the Deputy Head of Estates / Decontamination Manager. This key role involves overseeing the operation and maintenance of engineering plant, equipment, and essential services across all Trust properties. The successful candidate will hold specific responsibilities for ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of plant systems, contributing significantly to the Trust's commitment to excellence and operational integrity.
What You'll Do:
Manage site-wide decontamination and sterilisation systems, ensuring all operational and maintenance activities comply with relevant legislation and standardsSupervise the periodic inspection of pressure vessels associated with decontamination equipment to ensure compliance with Pressure Systems RegulationsEnsure all decontamination activities adhere to current health, safety, and HSE guidance, maintaining a safe working environmentSupport and supervise external contractors during maintenance, inspection, and servicing of decontamination systems, ensuring technical compliance and safetyUndertake duties as an Authorised Person (AP(D)) for decontamination, providing expert oversight and guidanceCoordinate major shutdowns of infrastructure services, liaising with affected departments to ensure smooth operations and minimal disruptionMaintain strong relationships with site management, external consultants, and contractors, providing technical advice and supportKeep up-to-date with technical, legislative, and managerial developments relevant to estates management and decontamination operationsWhat You Bring:
Qualified to a minimum of HNC level or equivalent in a mechanical engineering disciplineQualified as an Authorised Person (Decontamination)Appointed as a Competent Person (Decontamination)Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the maintenance of mechanical and/or electrical building servicesMinimum of 2 years’ experience in the operation, maintenance and management of steam raising plantHave a broad working knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical engineeringHave an in-depth knowledge of Buildings, Health & Safety regulations and other legislation affecting their workGood written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write reportsComputer literate with the ability to use Microsoft Office software etc., to write reportsAbility to formulate and manipulate databasesAbility to plan and programme work to achieve best valueAbility to manage, prioritise and plan own workload and deliver work within required time scalesDecision-making abilityHigher qualifications or more extensive relevant experienceWhat we offer:
