Opportunity summary: As a Controllership Analyst, you will directly support the plant Controller. You will serve as the primary point of contact for the business unit leadership to provide management updates and a variance analysis of monthly actuals vs forecasts. You will partner with Leadership to provide ongoing reporting and analysis of financials to drive decisions that positively impact performance and financial commitments.

 

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock

Ensure that annual budget reflects the impact of all capital projects and initiatives, and that EBITDA improvement efforts are consolidated at the business unit level in a timely and accurate manner.Analyze all cost contributions for the facility to identify cost savings opportunities.Conduct variance analysis based on P&L actuals vs forecast and communicate what the drivers are at an actionable level.Manage the project accounting of all projects, ensure accurate revenue recognition, optimize margins and enable business managers to deliver profitable projects.Facilitate business engagement and dialogue on business performance to communicate improvement plans and adjust forecast accordingly.Develop and manage defined communication channels across various stakeholder groups to build effective relationship and communicate profit improvements efforts.Collaborate with Maintenance, Sales, Operations or other departments across the organization to gather data and anticipate operational and/or production changes that could impact financial forecasting for the facility.Support in the development of investment projects in machinery, equipment and new technologies to maximize plant productivity and/or develop new products; CAPEX.Prepare executive presentations for management presenting relevant process updates and improvements and provide specific recommendations to senior management.Duties may include training and managing other accounting staff.Ensure Smurfit Westrock Group procedures and compliance with regulatory standards. Execute Sarbox Controls. Monitor, automate, disseminate, and keep company procedures up-to-date for their proper execution.

 

What you need to succeed:

Required: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or other business-related major.3-5+ years of accounting or financial analyst experience3+ years of accounting, administrative and sales support experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.Strong written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English preferred level C1.Required: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with intermediate/advanced level in Excel.Possess a broad knowledge of accounting, budgeting, cost/variance analysis, and interpretation of financial results in a manufacturing environment.Experience conducting financial close consolidation, budget and forecast analysis, and reporting.Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies between estimated and actual budgets, forecasts and P&Ls.Working knowledge of J.D. Edwards (Oracle software) or SAP is preferred or demonstrated ability to learn new software programs.Diligent with strong attention to detail and sound business judgment.Ability to set priorities, achieve deadlines, and manage multiple tasks at the same time while working in a fast-paced, dynamic position collaborating with many cross-functional teams.Demonstrated ability to work well under tight time constraints and highly organized.Demonstrated ability to build the business through improved analysis, trending and reporting.Demonstrated team-builder, with ability to work collaboratively with other individuals and disciplines
