The company is looking for an Animal Research Technician to join the team. This is an amazing opportunity to work on cutting edge treatments and make a difference!** **Pay** : $20 **Schedule:** + Full time: Mon-Fri 8a-4:30p **Location** : Athens, GA **Type of Job:** Contract, lasting a year with possibility of extension **Responsibilities:** + Documents and maintains records of animal care, preventive medicine, USDA-required, and study protocol-driven documents. + Provides animal husbandry and care including provision of feed, water, and enrichment materials as well as maintaining, cleaning, sanitation, and repairing of the animals’ pens, feeders, drinking systems, and handling equipment. + Restrains and manipulates animals for routine and emergency procedures. Recognizes when animals are sick, distressed or otherwise abnormal and communicates these observations to the Site Veterinarian or Group/Team Leader. + Conducts daily animal health and welfare assessments. + Administers treatment to animals and may administer sedation and conduct euthanasia at the direction of the Site Veterinarian or delegate. + Conducts scientific clinical observations and disease outcome assessments. May administer experimental treatment articles in accordance with study protocols. Records all scientific information on documents provided with study protocols or standard department forms as appropriate. + Assists with clinical R&D sample collection pre- and post-mortem in accordance with study protocols and direction of Investigator or delegate. Sample types may include but are not limited to blood, feces, oral fluids, nasal, tonsillar, or laryngeal swabs, tissues, etc. Assists with necropsies at direction of Site Veterinarian or delegate. **Requirements:** + High School Diploma/GED & a minimum of 2 years of lab animal, veterinary experience, or livestock experience required + Interpret medical orders, accurately calculate pharmacologic doses and administer medications. + Must be able to work with animals anti-mortem and post-mortem and conduct euthanasia + Must be able to lift 50 lbs frequently + Must be able to work in extreme environments (hot, cold, noisy, etc) **_We strongly encourage candidates who have some of the skills to apply.
