Job Title: Animal Care Technician - Cage Wash
Job Description

As an Animal Care Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and health of research animals through detailed maintenance and husbandry duties. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the animals' environment, contributing to significant research efforts.

ResponsibilitiesPlace processed bedding, feed, and other related items into assembled, sanitized cages.Maintain detailed records of maintenance schedules, detergent and disinfectant use, and performance tests for cage washers and autoclaves.Conduct daily animal health observations and perform husbandry duties to maintain the quality and health of research animals.Perform daily checks of water bottles and automatic water lines.Provide appropriate food and water to research animals.Conduct cage changing and/or cleaning as required per SOP and specified protocols.Essential SkillsProficiency in animal care, monitoring, and handling.Experience in cleaning and cage washing.Knowledge of animal husbandry and health monitoring.Understanding of animal science and research.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.Six months of experience in research animal care and husbandry preferred.Work Environment

This position is based in an Animal Research Lab focusing on Oncology. The role requires physical activity, including standing, walking, lifting, and the ability to ascend/descend stairs regularly. The candidate must be able to handle objects and materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Working at this institution offers the opportunity to gain extensive experience in high-volume animal care.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr.
