Anesthesia Technician

**Responsibilities**
+ Assist providers and medical/surgical support staff in activities such as patient assessment, treatment, anesthesia intervention, physiological monitoring, and direct patient care.
+ Is timely and precise in preparation, set up, calibration, and troubleshooting of invasive monitoring lines will assist with difficult airway and/or emergency situations.
+ Assists and ensures sterile placement of invasive physiological monitoring and treatment catheter (i.e. arterial, pulmonary catheters, venous infusion ports, central venous pressures).
+ Responds to patient-specific needs including (not limited to): blood, medications, supply and equipment during the surgical procedure. Accordingly, will follow all guidelines as instructed by the licensed provider.
+ Performs patient identification procedures to ensure proper delivery of blood products and medications.
+ Operates surgical equipment under the direction of a licensed provider while ensuring operating/procedure rooms and pre/post rooms are adequately stocked with appropriate quantity of supplies and required.
+ Works closely with Supply logistics to maintain anesthesia product supply for the operating room and procedural areas throughout the facility.
+ Assists in the transfer and monitoring of patients to/from Critical Care Units, and within perioperative services.
+ Ensures operating/procedure rooms and pre/post rooms are cleaned and prepared for the next patient to ensure safe and efficient operation.
+ Cleans equipment and implements infection control policies to support the anesthesia practices in surgical and procedural areas.
+ Identifies, eliminates, or reduces safety hazards; is knowledgeable of processes for reporting hazards/errors.
+ Is an active member of the Anesthesia OR Emergency Response/Code Team; will assure all emergency safety equipment is available and in working order.
+ Initiates trials and in-service sessions of new Anesthesia products/equipment to improve quality of care.
+ Ability to multi-task and have strong communication skills.
**Qualifications**
**Required Education and Experience**
High school diploma.
EMT experience, Paramedic experience or military Medic; CNA or PCT training program, or completion of "fundamentals" as a nursing student &/or 12 months of acute care (bedside) experience.
**Required Licensure and Certifications**
BLS-CPR
**Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training**
If working in a facility located in Iowa:
Mandatory Reporter Adult and Mandatory Reporter Child - within 6 months; tracked through Learning system
Clinical expertise and in-depth knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring.
Basic computer skills, adaptation to unpredictable situations, ability to make independent decisions, highly motivated, accountability, interest in patient care, and compassion for people.

**Pay Range**
$15.49 - $21.30 /hour
