About You and This Role
Dow has an exciting job opportunity as an Analytical Technologist located in Freeport, Texas. Supporting the P&SP business, Poly 3 MPQ lab in alignment with Manufacturing.
Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics is one of the world’s largest producers of polyethylene resins, functional polymers and adhesives, and is a leading innovator and collaborator across the value chain on sustainable application development and circular economy life-cycle design for plastics. The Analytical Technologist Role supports manufacturing operations by directly consulting with the plant client to understand their needs in support of complex routine and non-routine analytical laboratory analyses, evaluating standard and non-standard results using statistical tools as needed to ensure data integrity. Uses data systems to monitor analytical system performance, makes necessary modifications, as needed, for changing requirements and improvements in support of the clients and customers. Performs complex calibration and preventive maintenance of analytical equipment and methods. Provides implementation and qualification of new analytical equipment and methods. Requires full proficiency in a range of technical, operational, mechanical, or analytical/scientific processes and procedures through job-related training and on the job experience to perform a variety of work assignments. Acts as a training resource for team members, and an influential leader working closely with day lab staff and shift operators to prioritize daily operating discipline and safety. Upholds a high analytical work process standard in a diverse business environment. The role requires a strong foundation in analytical techniques, with the ability to perform both routine and complex analyses. The role is instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of data, expertise will be key in troubleshooting and improving analytical methods and equipment.
Responsibilities
+ Proficient in complex routine and non-routine analyses to train team members.
+ Modifies routine methods for non-routine analysis as needed.
+ Schedules and perform advanced calibration and preventative maintenance of analytical systems. Collaboration with internal and external vendors.
+ Partner with Analyzer Tech to assure consistency of on- and off-line Lab Analyzers.
+ Analytical representative to plant, operations, quality, tech center, business teams, communicates unplanned event results and new analytical requirements.
+ Monitors analytical systems for reliability and performance, evaluate validity of routine and non-routine data, applies statistical tools to ensure accurate interpretation of results and takes appropriate action.
+ Conducts high level troubleshooting on analytical instrumentation and methods and escalates to SMEs for unique problems as appropriate.
+ Performs troubleshooting, improvement and maintenance on Laboratory Information Technology (LIT) and data handling systems.
+ Implements and qualifies new analytical equipment and methods according to the Analytical qualification process.
+ Implements improvements to lab work processes and tools.
+ Escalates non-routine requests to appropriate subject matter experts for follow-up.
+ Follows EH&S and Operating Discipline/Quality System procedures and practices.
+ Ensure analytical service requests are value added and aligned with the business, plant, and team goals.
+ Network with other MPQ labs, RnD, analytical science, to share technology and leverage problem solving and prevention expertise.

Required Qualifications
+ A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
+ A minimum of 3 years of manufacturing, analytical or operations experience.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly.
+ Must have a current, valid US Driver’s License.
+ Ability to take callouts for plant support, and overtime as required for business demands. Also performing your duties safely and effectively requires being physically present onsite.
+ A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Associate or higher degree with at least 20 hours of College Chemistry and Math, OR three (3 or more years of military training/experience in related technical field, is strongly preferred.
+ Five (5) or more years of laboratory experience with preference for industrial lab experience.
+ Good understanding of statistics and how to apply statistical concepts to laboratory data.
+ General understanding of process technology to support process troubleshooting.
+ College level coursework in Organic Chemistry is strongly preferred.
