Position Summary

The Analytical Lab Technician executes routine and non-routine analytical testing, experiments, and tasks to support R&D product design, improvements, and material quality. This person works within a self-directed team of Technicians and Technologists to independently resolve requests for testing which are generated by Product Design Engineers and Scientists. 

Responsibilities

Executing Tests and Planning Experiments

Performs and executes routine and non-routine analytical testing using both basic and advanced laboratory techniquesPractices proper safety procedures. Recognizes and reports unsafe acts or conditions.Coordinates work with coworkers and interfaces with other R&D product groups, equipment, and service groups to acquire the information and services necessary to execute assigned experiments and tasksBuilds and maintains experiments and testing work schedules to meet business needsProvides insight and feedback to engineers on testing strategy and potential test issuesUses appropriate materials and equipment and understands their principles of use or operationReceives training in order to independently operate and maintain basic equipment and instruments in assigned area

Data Capture and Reporting

Collects, records, and transcribes routine and non-routine dataPerforms routine and non-routine calculationsCreates tables, charts, and graphs; summarizes data and analyzes data for exceptionsGenerates data reports that include conclusions

Department & Individual Improvements

Participates in department continuous improvement activitiesServes as an ad-hoc team member as requiredUnderstands basic principles of products and/or devices in assigned areaTrains and instructs others to perform routine experiments and routine and non-routine tasksCreates training documentationProvides leadership for others within project workMay also perform additional duties as assigned
What we are looking for

Minimum 1 year hands-on pertinent college coursework in chemistry, or equivalent experience/education2+ years of demonstrated related experience in a technical laboratory or similar environmentGood fundamental understanding of higher-level mathematics, mechanics, general science, and computer applicationsStrong working knowledge of Microsoft office applicationsResearch and Development technical laboratory setting Monday-Friday, day shift, occasionally schedule may vary from typical business hoursAbility to perform repetitive manual tasks requiring the use of hands, standing for extended periods of time, and lifting up to 35 lbsExposure to health risks or conditions may require the use of Personal Protective Equipment, including the potential use of a respirator

What we prefer

Bachelor's degree in chemistry (or similar degree type) with full understanding and practical working knowledge of organic and/or inorganic chemistryAnalytical instrumentation experience

Total Rewards Package

The salary range for this position is USD $46,300.00/Yr. - USD $57,000.00/Yr.

Actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
