Job Description

Analyzes samples and/or develops/validates methodologies for various compounds and components in compliance with SOPs and regulatory agency guidelines

Principal Contacts and Scope of Communications

Internal: Interacts with, internal clients and support groups, operational personnel, scientific personnel and department managementExternal: Contact with external clients with guidance from scientific or management staff regarding experiment design and outcome.  May contact vendors regarding troubleshooting and setup of equipment over the phone or on site

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Demonstrates and promotes the company visionRegular attendance and punctualityApplies GMP/GLP in all areas of responsibility, as appropriateOrganizes, conducts and evaluates analytical results and testing independently and in compliance with applicable methods, protocols, SOPs and regulatory agency guidelinesDocuments work and maintains study documentation and laboratory recordsIndependently uses and performs basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment and software appropriate for assigned tasks, while performing routine and non-routine maintenanceProvides input and participates in project meetings, plans, monitors and guides project workPerforms peer review and QC review of dataPerforms assigned workload on a daily basis and effectively completes multiple assignments.Promotes and contributes to a cohesive team environment and maintains a positive attitude.  Plans individual workload in coordination with team members.Maintains a clean and safe laboratory work environmentUnderstands data generated, and history of methods.Recognizes deviations from normal results and inform Study Director, Principal Investigator, and/or management of any problems and/or deviations that may affect the integrity of the data and participates in corrective action of problems.Identifies problems, determines appropriate actions, and implements solutions with support or independently as appropriate.Able to adapt to new procedures or particular needs as directed.Able to identify critical steps in an assay.Drives and implements process improvement initiativesCompletes all required training courses.Trains and assists less experienced staffAssists in setting up and performing optimization and validation of various analytes in a variety of matricesParticipates in client visits or calls as needed and assists in communicating technical informationAssists in writing reports, methods, protocols and SOPs, and make suggestions for modifications in test methods and procedures.Knowledge of departmental procedures and policiesEffectively plans and utilizes personnel and resources for timely completion of assigned projectsMay plan, monitor, or guide non-routine work within their teamViewed as a resource across multiple teamsConducts all activities in a safe and efficient mannerPerforms other duties as assigned

Pay: 25-27/hr. 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill or ability required

3+ years of related experienceBachelor’s Degree in relevant field (Laboratory experience may be substituted for degree)Familiar with the use of standard laboratory equipmentExperience with use and troubleshooting of analytical equipment is desiredBasic knowledge of computers and software programsBachelor’s Degree in relevant field (Laboratory experience may be substituted for degree)

Additional InformationMay work with potentially hazardous substances and/or radio labeled materialsMandatory immunizations and screening as requiredExpected to understand the process for handling hazardous wastes and receive on-the-job training for handling specific waste types in their job area.Will be exposed to food allergens (ex. Milk, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, etc.)Work requires some standing and sitting for long periods of time, including working within a laboratory hood and standing at a bench top.Work requires use of PPE (personal protective equipment).Overtime and weekend work as requiredWill be exposed to potential food allergens.
