Analyst - Global Agency Relations Program Management

Global Supply Management (GSM) is responsible for helping Amex maximize the purchasing power of third party spend. We provide strategic consultation to the business and provide end-to-end procurement services. We maximize the purchasing power of the Company to drive the best value from our supplier base which then frees up investment capacity. GSM together with our business partners manages the supplier strategy for the Company, identifying and on-boarding new suppliers, realizing significant cost saves and revenue generation relating to working with Global Commercial Services and Global Merchant Services Teams to increase billings and merchant coverage and ensuring an optimal user experience for Amex employees and suppliers.

Based in New York, the Global Agency Relations (GAR) team sits within Global Supply Management and supports American Express’s global marketing and promotions categories by driving value through strengthening and elevating strategic agency partnerships worldwide, fostering an innovative pipeline of potential new partners, and maintaining a focus on operational excellence, compliance, and third-party risk.

Strategic Sourcing and Business Enablement (SS&BE) is responsible for helping Amex maximize its purchasing power with third parties. The Global Agency Relations team is responsible for bringing the best expertise, quality, and innovations to American Express through our third-party marketing relationships. In proactively managing our strategy and relationships with agencies and partners, we ensure the best partner talent and performance and improve the value of our marketing investments. This is a global role supporting all Amex customer segments across multiple sub-categories such as creative, media, experiential, and other key marketing services.

The Global Agency Relations Program Analyst will support and enable core operational workstreams that help marketing partners across the enterprise work efficiently, effectively, and compliantly with our agencies. The role focuses on program execution, analysis, process support, and stakeholder coordination, working closely with the Global Agency Relations Program Manager. Work will include a wide range of functions, including, but not limited to, agency relationship management, agency compliance, and business unit support. 

Responsibilities, at a high level, will include:

Support the Global Agency Relations Program Manager in ongoing management of our global marketing agency roster (100+ agencies).Help build strong, productive relationships with our most strategic agency partners including principal agencies Assist in the development and execution of the overall agency strategy by bringing external insights, analyzing marketplace trends, and preparing insights to to further strategy and selection of best-in-class agency talent.Coordinate with internal teams across the organization to understand their marketing needs and to help them make sound agency selection decisions.Create inputs to educate marketers on agency policy and compliance; develop and provide training when appropriate.Develop, maintain, and share content with global marketers on best practices for agency management.Support the annual agency evaluations process including BU accrual and agency bonusing process.Monitor and provide ongoing management of agency selection platform.Participate in regional or cross-market GSM initiatives.Promote American Express Blue Box Values and ensure compliance with procurement policies and standards.

Minimum Qualifications: 

Education – Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related field preferred).Background – 3+ years of experience in agency relations, procurement, supply chain, or related roles.Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills – results-driven mindset with the ability to synthesize data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations while balancing multiple priorities.Agency Management Operations & Marketing Acumen –understanding of agency models, marketing workflows, and financial processes; experience in marketing and promotions or consulting a plus.Strategic Thinker – strategic and creative thinker who likes to solve business and operational problems and identify clear action plans and drive resolution.Customer Focus – customer-first mindset with knowledge of procurement/sourcing process.

Strong Collaborator – collaborative partner with strong cross-functional leadership and influence management skills with global experience.Excellent Communicator – excellent oral and written communication skills with comfort presenting ideas to leaders at all levels.Comfort with white space – ability to navigate white space and bring structure.Adaptable – ability to manage day-to-day business priorities along with long-term strategic deliverables with a positive. attitude and the flexibility to deal with ambiguity and rapid change.

Salary Range: $65,500.00 to $102,500.00 annually + bonus + benefits
