The Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Investment Banking team is recruiting for an Analyst or Associate to join the team in New York.
The Analyst/Associate will deliver deep industry expertise, creative thinking through a team-based approach, and deliver world-class execution for clients across a full range of products, through an integrated Capital Markets platform and through an industry ecosystem approach. Work collaboratively to develop creative, client-focused solutions for prospects and current clients.
**Role Responsibilities:**
+ Integrate sales teams to build, present and win mandates for new business opportunities.
+ Create and participate in client financial solutions presentation materials.
+ Monitor clients, their industry and regulators for changes that may impact clients' portfolio and business needs.
+ Communicate with partners to close new sales.
+ Directly manage a diversified portfolio of private companies and mid-market companies, and progressively manage clients with increased responsibilities.
+ Review and continuously monitor the performance of existing accounts and business relationships with clients
+ Perform due diligence activities (e.g., customer visits, business model analysis, and comprehensive review of industry trends and regulations).
+ Identify opportunities to diversify client portfolios.
+ Identify opportunities to increase efficiency and improve service to clients, both internally and externally.
+ Transmit analytics data to sales teams.
+ Support the implementation of strategic initiatives, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
+ Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
+ Ensure consistency among stakeholders.
+ Create financial models to analyze customer portfolios and anticipate customer needs.
+ Use financial analytics to proactively identify cross-sell opportunities.
+ Update financial analyses and models in accordance with the needs and requirements of the business line.
+ Analyze and evaluate business line reports.
+ Apply appropriate technical concepts and prepare and direct, reliable and consistent technical and financial reports and analyses to support the services to be provided to the client.
+ Understand the complexity of transactions and associated risks (credit, market, operational, legal, compliance, etc.).
+ Provide feedback to drive continuous improvement and support related actions.
+ Integrate information from multiple sources to increase process efficiency, improve analytics, and streamline reporting.
+ Provides guidance, commentary, development and coaching to analysts.
+ Produce financial models to support strategic recommendations presented to clients.
+ Considers risk management, internal controls and compliance as integral parts of day-to-day responsibilities and follows policies and procedures.
+ Focus primarily on a business line or operating group within BMO; Adopt a broader organization-wide orientation as required.
+ Uses judgment to identify problems, determine their causes and resolve them within established boundaries.
+ Work independently on a wide range of complex tasks, which may represent unique situations.
+ Broader duties and responsibilities can be assigned as needed.
**Qualifications and Skills:**
+ Relevant work experience in M&A is preferred or in investment banking or valuation experience as a financial analyst.
+ Holds an undergraduate degree; In this context, the incumbent must have taken courses in finance, economics or accounting.
+ Knowledge of capital markets, investment banking products and current regulations.
+ Experience or understanding of credit analysis.
+ Good knowledge of the organization's portfolio management policies and objectives.
+ Have strong skills in operations and transaction processing or project management.
+ Strong quantitative analysis, financial modelling and credit analysis skills.
+ Expertise in financial software and database management tools.
+ Technical proficiency acquired through schooling or work experience.
+ Oral and written communication skills – in-depth skills.
+ Collaboration and teamwork skills – in-depth skills.

**Base Salary Range**
Analyst: $110,000.00 USD - $135,000.00 USD
Associate: $175,000.00 USD - $225,000.00 USD

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
