Job Description
Analyst / Associate, Investments M&A
Position Summary:
The Analyst / Associate will join the M&A team within Brookfield Wealth Solutions. The individual will assist senior members of the team to identify, originate, and execute investments with a primary focus on insurance and broader financial services opportunities. The individual will be expected to take a central role in the continued development of the team’s work in the insurance sector and will work closely with junior and senior team members, senior members of Brookfield’s management team, and portfolio companies. This is a highly dynamic role with involvement throughout the investment process and ongoing portfolio management
Responsibilities:
Participate in due diligence of potential investments, including identifying key investment merits and risks, meeting with management, reviewing transaction documentation, and working in conjunction with third-party advisors as required
Assist in the preparation and presentation of investment committee memos, presentations, and other analyses to support investments
Perform extensive independent work in the development of financial models and investment thesis
Conduct market research to support the development of investment strategies and to identify transaction opportunities
Help lead coverage of the insurance sector and work with senior members of the team to maintain a view of opportunities and trends
Build relationships with frequent contacts across the organization and assist with the management of our insurance operating businesses
Qualifications & Requirements:
Degree in finance, accounting, or related business discipline
One to three (1-3) years of work experience in Principal Investing, Investment Banking, M&A, or other relevant areas
Experience covering financial services, particularly insurance and asset management is an asset
A professional, positive attitude and capable of contributing to a dynamic and team-oriented culture
Experience conducting research and due diligence, evaluating transaction opportunities, performing financial and valuation analysis, and producing “client ready” investment materials
High level of proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel and outstanding financial modeling skills
Judgement, critical thinking and strong quantitative and analytical skills combined with attention to detail and thoroughness, with the ability to assess complex situations and make effective recommendations
Ability to adapt to new challenges in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to operate independently and willingness to own and improve processes
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with a proven track record of working with individuals across various levels and backgrounds
Organizational skills to effectively manage priorities, multi-task where necessary, work well under pressure and meet timelines and the ability to deal professionally with internal and external stakeholders
Interest in continuous improvement of our processes and outputs
