CIBC Capital Markets has a long history of advising a diverse set of clients and investors across all sectors and product solutions. The role will provide the candidate the opportunity to join a high visibility team that works with all Capital Markets product groups (ex. Corporate & Investment Banking, Global Markets and Payments), Enterprise Sustainability, Enterprise Risk and senior leadership across North America, Europe and APAC region. Also integral to the team’s function is providing thought leadership on various sustainability topics, market developments and strategic priorities for clients, investors and CIBC’s own stakeholders in a fast paced, nascent and dynamic work environment. The Analyst will be expected to provide a broad range of analytical and research support to all the professionals within the SF Group, including preparation of presentations and discussion materials. This role requires maintaining an awareness of client, industry, as well as regulatory updates, relevant economic and political trends, in order to tailor coverage and sustainability solutions. To successfully perform the work, you’ll be on-site full-time._ **How You’ll Succeed** + **SF products** - Develop pitch books and client-related materials related to sustainable finance products and Environmental, Social & Governance (“ESG”) themes and topics. + **Reporting** - Assist in the due diligence, audit and reporting of quantitative data and non-financial disclosures related to CIBC’s own sustainability commitments, including maintaining databases, liaising with internal stakeholders and senior leadership. + **Origination** - Work with the corporate origination teams to identify opportunities for collaboration and origination of SF products relevant for our clients. + **Relationship focused collaboration** - Foster strong connectivity and seamless collaboration across all teams within Capital Markets - including Corporate & Investment Banking, Global Markets and Payments - as well as at the enterprise level with functions such as risk management, treasury, and investor relations. Demonstrate a client-focused mindset and a commitment to delivering exceptional service at every opportunity. + **Work ethic** – The role is challenging, rewarding and fast-paced. It requires a passion for sustainability and a strong work ethic to meet deadlines on short-notice. + **Self starter** – Is proactive and able to take initiative with minimal close supervision and can manage projects independently. **Who You Are** + **You’ve completed an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and have a basic to intermediate experience or education within finance or sustainability.** Previous experiences in ESG advisory, ratings agency, consulting and strategy are preferred. Corporate finance/investment banking/private equity experience combined with completion of a CA or CFA, is considered an asset. + **You’re passionate about ESG/sustainability.** This is a fast evolving and nascent field. You must have an ability to integrate the evolving world of sustainability to assist our clients in their ambitions and the Bank’s overall strategy. + **You’re an effective communicator.** Excellent presentation skills evidenced by ability to be a focused, confident and a persuasive presenter. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills sufficient to provide detailed explanation and interpretation of factual and conceptual information and ideas related to complex technical and conceptual issues. Good relationship building capabilities for internal and external audiences is essential. + **You are naturally adaptable and creative.** You must be comfortable starting with limited information in some instances, given new developments are common. You must be creative and bring your experience from other roles to create new materials or solutions for our business partners and clients. + **You’re digitally savvy.** Strong technical skills as it relates to MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Conduct market research and analysis using the Bloomberg terminal. Compile, analyze and interpret data from multiple sources to support decision-making. + **You’re naturally curious** . You have a penchant for learning and interpreting information. As the sustainable finance space is ever-evolving, research papers, regulations, newspaper editorials and conferences are abundant. You will use your natural curiosity to learn, and to share with those within the SF team, and more broadly to catalyze success at CIBC. + **You’re motivated by collective success.** Well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills in order to develop, manage and leverage relationships with clients, and internal and/or external business partners.
