The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual as Alternate  Superintendent - Metallurgy 

About the roles

The Alternate Superintendent Metallurgy supports the Superintendent in leading the team and optimizing plant performance. This role is ideal for a Senior-level professional ready to step into a leadership role. This role ensures continuity and oversight in the Superintendent’s absence and is responsible for ensuring that metallurgical activities align with operational goals, safety standards, and long-term business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical direction to the operations team and support the management team in achieving KPI’s Short term metal planning and production forecasts Mill reline planning and forecast Support strategic decision-making with robust metallurgical analysis Mentor and guide metallurgical and operational teams Liaise with operations, maintenance, and technical teams Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant NPL policies & procedures.

Ideal Candidate:

Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related field. 7+ years’ experience in a similar role in mineral processing Assist in overseeing plant metallurgical performance and continuous improvement Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills Strong project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting and risk management Familiarity with project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar).
