Position Summary: The Alpine Grooming and Heavy Equipment Supervisor assists the Grooming Manager in leading, planning, training, and delegating tasks for alpine grooming and heavy equipment operations. In winter, this role supervises grooming staff and oversees nightly mountain maintenance, including trail surfaces, building clearance, and lift access. In summer, the role supports mountain operations teams by operating heavy equipment and leading summer construction projects. This includes overseeing the safe operation of all Eldora-owned and rented heavy equipment, leading safety training, and monitoring equipment maintenance.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
Operate heavy equipment at night in variable weather and snow conditions to create a safe and consistent riding surface.
Oversee and guide operators nightly to complete the grooming flight plan set by the Grooming Manager.
Communicate and delegate tasks, ensuring they are completed safely and efficiently.
Complete all necessary documentation for each shift (grooming logs, safety, and incident forms).
Work closely with the Grooming Manager to develop short-term and long-term goals for the resort.
Collaborate with the Grooming Manager and Mountain Operations Director on grooming strategies and daily updates.
Communicate with different mountain departments on necessary maintenance and events from night operations.
Ensure equipment logs are filled out appropriately and maintain equipment cleanliness.
Help open Nordic trails and help train staff in Nordic grooming operations, ensuring they are knowledgeable about equipment operation, safety protocols and grooming techniques.
Oversee construction projects from conception to completion, ensuring safety compliance.
Develop and lead heavy equipment training for new and experienced operators.
Perform operational maintenance and inspections on equipment, making minor adjustments as needed.
Sets the example to all company safety policies and procedures, actively contributing to a safe working environment for self, coworkers, and guests.

Must be able to work weekends and holidays as required by resort operations.

Specific Job Skills:
Has valid US Driver’s License & must be 21 years old to operate company vehicles.
Ability to meet company standards for MVR and Background check.
Minimum 7 years experience operating heavy equipment including snowcats, front end loaders, excavators, backhoes, dozers etc.
Minimum 5 years with supervisory or management experience.
Previous experience dozing snow, opening and maintaining ski trails.
Previous experience working on all types of construction sites.

Schedule:
Non-Peak Days (M-F): 4PM - 2AM
Peak Days (Sa/Sun/Holidays): 4PM - 2AM
This schedule represents an average work week and is subject to change based on guest volume, operational needs, and weather conditions.

Compensation & Benefits:
Compensation: Proposed hiring rate of $30 - $35 depending on experience.
