AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC
Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC, Position Description Number PDD1636000 and is part of the WY 153rd Maintenance Squadron, Wyoming Air National Guard. This is a Title 32 Dual Status Technician Excepted Service position. Military affiliation is required. Responsibilities The primary purpose of this position is to maintain, troubleshoot, remove, repair, install, certify, test and perform operational checks on the turboprop engines, propellers, and associated propulsion system components. (1) Removes, installs, certifies, repairs, modifies, overhauls, and installs turboprop engines, reduction gear boxes, turbine modules, compressor modules, auxiliary power units, propellers and related propeller components as required. (2) Modifies engines, propellers, auxiliary power units, and components in accordance with Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO) directives; removes and installs engine quick change kits; prepares engines for installation and installs engine and propeller assemblies on aircraft. (3) Performs operational checks of installed propellers, engines, auxiliary power units and sub-systems during aircraft maintenance ground runs in accordance with approved checklists. (4) Performs isochronal and special evaluations on engines, propellers and auxiliary power units. (5) Performs aircraft full power runs and complete engine and propeller efficiency checks. ** This is NOT an all-inclusive list of duties. ** Requirements Conditions of Employment KEY REQUIREMENTS: Open to current or prior service active duty, reserve or national guard members of one of the branches of the US Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines, or Coast Guard, Military members: Submit vMPF Rip, DVR, STP, ERS, MBS, or PDR with resume. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must possess experience or training that has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories in accordance with technical specifications, procedures and requirements. Experience using hand and power tools common to the trade. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-08: Must possess experience or training removing and installing components and accessories with detailed guidance. Experience in following detailed instructions in making minor repairs and modifications to aircraft engines, sub-assemblies and components. WG-10: Must possess experience or training performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories. Experience or training performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft engines, engine components, and power trains for fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft. Experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis. NOTE: Minimum Requirements and Specialized Experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position. Applicants must provide from MM/YYYY - MM/YYYY (e.g., 02/2015 - 03/2017 or Feb 2017 - Mar - 2017) dates and hours worked per week with description of your specialized experience on the resume. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs) - Knowledge of mechanical, hydromechanics, electrical, electronic, and pneudraulic principles and systems, that apply to turboprop engines and propellers. - Skill in the interpretation and use of technical orders and manuals, manufacturers' specifications, factory engineering bulletins, flowcharts/wiring diagrams and other related technical guidance. - Skill in troubleshooting, diagnosing defects, certifying, conducting bench and operational checks, disassembly, repairing, modifying, testing, cleaning, assembly and installation of turboprop engine and propeller systems, sub-systems and components such the integrated synchrophasing system, reduction gear box, torque meter assembly, fuel scheduling system and electrical components and control assemblies. - Skill in the use of test equipment such as computer borescopes, fuel gauges, air gauges, and alignment fixtures; special tools and precision measuring equipment; high pressure hydraulic test equipment; dynamic propeller balancing equipment; and engine vibration analyzers. - Skill in operating and maintaining the engine test/trim automated system (ETTAS) on the engine test cell to evaluate, identify and correct propeller and engine components causing vibration or impending failure. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidates will be required to be in a compatible military grade and assignment prior to the effective date of placement. COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENTS: Must possess or be eligible to retrain into AFSC 2A6X1, Aerospace Propulsion. Enlisted 2A6X1 ASVAB Requirements: Must possess a minimum score of "56" on the Mechanical portion of the ASVAB. Medical Profile PULHES must not be greater than 333132.
