Summary This position serves as a Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Equipment Mechanic at the VA Healthcare System, Bay Pines, Florida and reports to the HVAC Shop Supervisor, Engineering Service. The primary duty of this position is to provide maintenance and repair support for this HVAC system, in addition to the hospital itself, support services are provided to outpatient clinics, as well as Veterans Centers. Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to: Possess the ability to read and understand blue prints, drawings and control diagrams. Use basic knowledge and skills of the crafts to perform scheduled preventative maintenance inspections, systematic troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of various sizes and types of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment and system components. Make rough sketches or prints of newly installed or modified equipment or systems to be delivered to the Air Conditioning Work leader for updating mechanical blueprints. Construct dust barriers and / or blocks off areas for the safety and protection of patients, staff, visitors and equipment. Ensure that job site is clean of all debris and equipment upon the completion of work. Work Schedule: Weekday, Day Shift Position Description Title/PD#: Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic/PD04542A Physical Requirements: Incumbent makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms, and where the systems and equipment worked on are in hard-to-reach places. Incumbent frequently stands, stoops, bends, kneels, climbs and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Incumbent frequently handles, lifts, carries, and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to (50 pounds). Occasionally, lifts and carry items that weigh over (50 pounds) with help. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
