Job Summary:
The Functional Lead will play a critical role in analyzing functional requirements and bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions, specifically within the context of Generative AI projects. This role involves collaborating with business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure that AI solutions are aligned with business objectives and effectively address functional requirements.
What You Will Do:
Analyze and document functional requirements for Generative AI projects, ensuring they accurately reflect business needs and objectives.
Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating business requirements into clear and actionable technical specifications.
Collaborate with business units to understand their needs and identify opportunities where Generative AI can provide value.
Work with technical teams to design and implement AI solutions that meet functional requirements and deliver expected outcomes.
Facilitate workshops and meetings to gather requirements, discuss solutions, and validate that AI solutions align with business goals.
Ensure that functional requirements are incorporated into project plans and that solutions are tested and validated against these requirements.
Monitor and report on project progress, ensuring that functional aspects are addressed and any issues are resolved in a timely manner.
Provide guidance and support to project teams on functional aspects of AI solutions, including design, implementation, and deployment.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in Generative AI to recommend and incorporate best practices into functional requirements and solutions.
Assist in the development of user training and documentation related to AI solutions.
What You Have:
Strong understanding of Generative AI concepts and their application in business contexts.
Proficient in analyzing and documenting functional requirements and translating them into technical specifications.
Experience with AI project lifecycle, including design, implementation, and deployment.
Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively bridge the gap between business and technical teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address functional requirements and issues.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
Proven track record of working with cross-functional teams and delivering solutions that meet business needs.
Bachelor’s degree in business, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a functional lead role, with prior experience in Generative AI or AI-related projects.
Demonstrated ability to analyze functional requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Experience working with both business stakeholders and technical teams to deliver successful AI projects.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Certifications in business analysis or project management (e.g., CBAP, PMP) are a plus.
Familiarity with AI ethics and Responsible AI principles.
Background in a specific industry or domain related to the AI projects is a plus.

The ideal location for this role is East Peoria-IL, Dallas-TX, Nashville-TN
This position requires the employee to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.
This position may require 10% travel.

Summary Pay Range:
$144,960.00 - $217,320.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
