AI Policy Manager, Government Affairs and Public Policy
**Minimum qualifications:** + Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. + 7 years of experience in policy analysis and campaigns, working on technology issues or the policy environments that surround them. + 7 years of experience working within government, think tanks, public interest groups, technology industry groups, or corporate public policy organizations. + 5 years of experience working on tech or related policy, including experience with AI policy. **Preferred qualifications:** + Experience at a technology company, state or federal-level government agency or legislature, NGO or similar organization dealing with technology policy issues including AI. + Excellent written and verbal communications skills. As a member of Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you'll be part of a global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions. You’ll combine creativity and intellectual excellence with the organizational skills to manage various campaigns, projects and initiatives. In this role, you’ll advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception and direction. You're passionate about the opportunity to shape the future of how we use and build technology for everyone. The AI and Emerging Technology Policy team, within the GAPP Centers of Excellence, develops Google's perspectives on public policy around AI and other emerging technologies. The team develops views on the appropriate regulation of AI and other emerging technologies so as to enable responsible deployment, and engage with policymakers and experts around those issues. In this role, you will develop views on other public policies to support ongoing AI and emerging technology innovation around research and development policy. You will also support efforts to partner with governments around innovation policy and to highlight how AI can be harnessed to address societal challenges. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $138,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Learn more about benefits at Google . **Responsibilities:** + Identify policy issues that may affect Google, understand the impact on Google business and users, and participate in policy campaigns with clear goals to shape a policy or set of policies. + Help define and shape Google’s AI public policy agenda, including positions on AI accountability, incident reporting, and risk mitigation. + Assess and develop positions on AI regulatory files and other AI policy. + Support leadership around AI policy, including engaging with policymakers on how AI should be regulated. + Work with internal teams to get cross-functional input and support for public policy positions, and to advise on public policy developments.
