Minimum Qualifications **Minimum Qualifications** **Education and Experience:** **Level I:** High school diploma or equivalent. **Level II:** High school diploma or equivalent plus 1 year of experience in research practices and protocols. **LevelIII :** High school diploma or equivalent plus 4 years of experience in research practices and protocols. **Level IV:** High school diploma or equivalent plus 6 years of experience in research practices and protocols. **Substitutions allowed for Experience:** When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications **Minimum Skills and Abilities** Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and problem solving skills; demonstrated technical excellence and ability to work both independently and in a team environment are essential. **Minimum Technology Skills** Basic knowledge and operation of computers. **Minimum License and Certifications** + Valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one prior to selection. + Must obtain private applicator permit within 6 months of hiring. Desired Qualifications **Desired Qualifications** Desired qualifications include the following: + Knowledge and experience with ornamental horticulture research and various data collection methods. + Experience setting up/laying out scientific experiments preferably related to horticulture. + Experience with pesticide application. + Experience with maintenance and operation of equipment including: mowers, tractors, golf carts, trucks, and spray equipment. + Knowledge and operation of computers is highly desirable.
