Job specification:
Pick up eldest child from nursery (13-minute walk from the family home) Engage the 2-year-old in stimulating, age-appropriate activities throughout the afternoon (indoor/outdoor play, creative games, Storytime, etc.) Handle child-related housekeeping tasks, such as tidying up toys, keeping play and eating areas clean, and managing the children’s laundry Prepare and serve dinner for both children, ensuring meals are age-appropriate, healthy, and aligned with family preferences Support with bath and bedtime routines, including helping both children wind down; eldest typically goes to bed by 8:00 PM Work in partnership with mum during shared care times when she is at home – offering support with either child as needed Maintain a consistent and nurturing daily routine, including scheduled nap times, mealtimes, and structured play sessions Occasionally accompany the children to local outings, playgroups, or pre-planned activities Assist with newborn care (e.g., bottle feeding, soothing, naptime support), especially when mum is focused on the older child Provide occasional evening babysitting, including later hours when arranged in advance Create a fun, engaging environment through singing, dancing, reading stories, arts & crafts, and other interactive activities to encourage development and bonding
Candidate specification:
Experienced with both newborns and toddlers, confident in caring for children at different developmental stages Experience caring for multiple children simultaneously Strong understanding of child development – a background in psychology or early childhood education is a plus Mature and experienced, ideally someone who can offer support to mum and share knowledge in a respectful, collaborative way Experience with special educational needs (SEN) or sensory processing issues is a valuable bonus Energetic and engaging, able to provide focused attention and keep both children stimulated throughout the day Warm, kind, and friendly, with a naturally caring presence Skilled in maintaining structure and routine, while remaining adaptable to the family’s evolving needs Highly nurturing and affectionate, creating a loving and secure environment for the children Patient and understanding, able to calmly manage challenging moments with empathy Able to guide and teach gently, offering support and encouragement without being forceful or directive
