Job Summary Job Summary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Provides student supervision in the school’s Aftercare Program consistent with the philosophy, mission, values, and goals of the school. The Aftercare Program is a mixture of structured and unstructured play led by the Aftercare Lead and will include children from K-8. 2. Fully supports the School’s mission and is a highly engaging, positive, and assertive ambassador for the School. 3. Works collaboratively and supportively with the School’s faculty, administrators, and staff. 4. Supports all School policies as indicated in the Parent Handbook. 5. Complies with the provisions of the Employee Handbook. 6. Performs other duties and oversees special assignments as necessary or assigned by the Aftercare Lead or the Auxiliary Programs Coordinator. Skills and Knowledge 1. Skilled in the following areas: verbal and written communication, interpersonal/relationship building, organization, time management, attention to detail, problem-solving, conflict management, and decision-making. 2. Background in childhood development. 3. Knowledge of child health services related to injuries and illnesses. 4. An understanding of gifted learners and childhood development or willingness to develop such skills with a commitment to meet the needs of gifted children in an authentic and developmentally appropriate manner. 5. Ability to use an interactive, hands-on, project-based approach while promoting self-discovery and critical thinking amongst students. 6. Ability to motivate and challenge students while maintaining a focused and orderly environment. 7. Innovative, growth mindset, self-starter who works efficiently to attain goals. 8. A role model of high standards of professional behavior. 9. A strong sense of ethics and integrity. 10. A strong commitment to collaborate with teachers, staff, administrators, and parents.

Comments and Other Information FLSA Status Part-time, Non-Exempt Supervisor Reports to the Auxiliary Programs Coordinator 2 positions available with different hours. Hours Position 1: Monday: 3:00 - 6:00 PM Tuesday: 3:00 - 6:00 PM Wednesday: 3:00 - 6:00 PM Thursday: 12:00 - 6:00 PM Friday: 3:00 - 6:00 PM Hours Position 2: Monday: 3:00 - 6:00 PM Tuesday: 3:00 - 6:00 PM Wednesday: Off/standby Thursday: 12:00 - 6:00 PM Friday: 3:00 - 6:00 PM Physical and Psychological Demands 1. Must be: a. physically and mentally capable of performing multiple tasks simultaneously and be capable of consistently functioning well in a fast-paced environment b. work independently with little supervision c. able to occasionally lift a minimum of 25 pounds d. able to give and take criticism and direction well. 2. Must enjoy working collegially and congenially with faculty/staff, parents, and children in a school that highly values community. 3. Must exhibit the following qualities to be a successful team member: a. ability to maintain confidential and positive working relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, parents, pupils, school, community organizations and the general public; b. trustworthiness and the ability to trust other team members and supervisor; c. ability to communicate in a timely and professional manner to address conflicts; d. strong evidence of commitment and loyalty to Helios School; e. strong evidence of ownership and accountability for work; and f. consistent and superior attention to detail and results.
