Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled system Engineer to join our team. This position focuses on projects related to chronographs, including modeling, integration, and working with fly software on avionics for Helio-physics long-duration space missions.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and refine optical modes for chronograph systems.Ability to work all phases of system/subsystems from concept study to final testing.Develop assembly and test procedures and support all levels of system/ subsystem integration and tests.Work with fly software on avionics for Helio-physics projects.Support trade studies and recommend system architecture and design approach.  Work with other engineers, technicians, manufacturing and quality engineers in a team environment.Prepare and deliver technical presentations and support project level reviews.Write test procedures, plans & reports as necessary.

Minimum Requirements

BS degree in Optical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Minimum of five years of experience supporting projects at GSFC.

Solid understanding of the NASA flight software and hardware development process and methodology.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong background in optical systems and coronagraph technology.Strong knowledge of flight software development at GSFC.Comfortable working in a cross disciplinary environment to develop and implement new designs, or help trouble-shoot existing ones.Able to perform system trade studies, system optimization, tolerance and performance analysis.Excellent written and oral communication skillsDemonstrate ethical and professional behavior in accordance with company values.Experience in the development and qualification of Flight Optical Systems is preferred.

Basic Compensation:

$96,900.00 - $145,400.00

The offered rate will be based on contract affordability and the selected candidate's working location, knowledge, skills, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
