Join the rapidly expanding Lilly Gene Therapy team at Eli Lilly. We invent, characterize, and advance novel gene therapy reagents for a wide range of clinical applications, working cross-functionally across disease areas and platforms. Job Responsibilities:
Design, build and test novel CAR constructs by combining modular protein domains to support discovery-stage cell therapy programsApply molecular biology methods and protein engineering strategies to enhance construct performanceDesign and manage large-scale construct libraries (arrayed and pooled) for discovery campaignsPartner with LVV production teams to enable high-throughput testing of construct panelsWork with broader teams to quantify in vitro and in vivo outcomes from produced constructsWork cross-functionally with Lilly’s expertise in Immunology, Oncology, Computational Biology, and Genomics to advance novel cell therapy programsPartner with translational teams and CROs to test engineered CARs in primary immune cells, in vitro functional assays, and in vivo modelsBasic Requirements
PhD in biology, molecular biology, or related scientific field.Additional Preferences
Strong expertise in molecular biology techniques, including cloning, mutagenesis, PCR/qPCR/ddPCR, and sequencingExperience in protein engineering approaches such as codon optimization, linker design, and modular domain assemblyExperience with library-scale cloning or mutagenesis approaches (Golden Gate, Gibson, or similar)Familiarity with computational protein design tools is a plusExperience with primary cell engineering or in vivo models is a plusExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issuesStrong communication and collaboration skillsAdditional Information:This role may require up to 10–15% travel for conferences or training. Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$133,500 - $217,800Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
