Job Summary:
Belcan is seeking a Field Supplier Development Engineering Consultant to support the supply chain for aerospace hardware and subassemblies. This position will be deployed within the New England region and is responsible for on-site supplier support, quality systems evaluation, and delivery performance.
This role is part of Belcan"s larger supplier support advisor team and focuses on identifying and resolving issues that affect quality, cost, and schedule. The position involves regular travel to supplier facilities for inspections, audits, and hands-on support.
Responsibilities
* Monitor and improve supplier performance using quality tools and continuous improvement techniques.
* Establish and track delivery plans (lines of balance), identify potential production issues, and support recovery efforts.
* Evaluate supplier processes and capabilities to ensure alignment with technical and production requirements.
* Support engineering and design intent by resolving production issues at supplier sites.
* Conduct supplier audits and assessments; administer the Supplier Corrective Action process.
* Maintain and update the Approved Vendor List (AVL) and performance metrics.
* Develop and implement supplier development plans focused on quality, cost, and delivery improvement.
* Coordinate with internal engineering and procurement teams on technical and commercial issues.
* Support value engineering and product improvement activities as needed.
Required Qualifications
* 10+ years of experience in Supplier Quality or Supplier Development in the aerospace or related industry.
* Bachelor"s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field.
* Hands-on experience with aerospace mechanical, electronic, or hybrid hardware.
* Familiarity with AS9100 requirements and Six Sigma or other quality improvement methodologies.
* Knowledge of configuration management and engineering change control processes.
* Strong understanding of production planning, quality systems, and technical drawings.
* U.S. Citizenship required due to the nature of the work.
* Willingness to travel frequently (50-100%) within the New England region.
Preferred Qualifications
* ASQ certification (CQE, CQA, etc.) or equivalent.
* Experience working with FAR/DFARS in a supplier management context.
* Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA.
* CIPS or similar procurement/supply chain certification (or working toward one).
* Experience communicating with supplier and customer stakeholders at multiple levels.
* Comfortable working independently in supplier environments to address urgent issues.
