Advanced Video Engineer IV

Are you ready to lead engineering activities that enhance Spectrum's advanced video and signal processing systems? As an Advanced Video Engineer IV, you will design, document, implement, monitor, enhance, and troubleshoot systems within the Video Organization. Collaborating closely with the Systems Engineering, Advanced Engineering, IT teams, vendor operations staff, and internal operations staff, you will focus on system design and configuration. Under limited supervision, you will be responsible for engineering activities that maintain and enhance the company's advanced video and signal processing systems. Able to work with SDV/VOD as well as building and troubleshooting DAA.  Designs, documents, implements, monitors, enhances and troubleshoots systems in Video Organization. Works closely with associated SE, AE and IT teams, Vendor operations staff as well as internal operations staff on system design and configuration.


How You’ll Make an Impact 

Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.

Works with building service groups in an SDV environment with preferred experience with DAA.

Understand the principles of CMTS and provisioning them on the SDV back office

Understand the principles of design and solutions improvement, convert high level designs into production ready implementation plans, develop monitoring solutions, detailed analysis of Ticket information, Tier IV escalation activities, and train others in technologies and solutions
Deep dive of Root Cause Analysis of outages and events which includes (but not limited to) working with vendors, support center management and updating information in RCA, summarizing the outage or event
Work closely with Architects and Engineers in designing, modeling, and implementing break/fix tools and procedures of new and old technologies
Document project requirements including scope, schedule, testing and terms of delivery to ensure project is completed on time with highest level of quality
Research and identify technology opportunities and their application to the business
Stage and validate new hardware and software for proper configuration and performance
Lead a group of junior and peer engineers to resolve solution performance issues

What You’ll Bring to Spectrum 


Required Qualifications 

Education 
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience
Experience
(Six) 6+ years of Video and CDN Engineering Support experienceTechnical Skills
Specialized skillset in MPEG2, MPEG4, HEVC H.264 and H.265, Video Delivery systems and CDN
Specialized skillset in Digital Headend and CPE Control Systems, Encryption Technologies, Session Resource and Management Systems, Back Office environments and interfaces
Systems knowledge (Linux, Unix, Encoders, Video delivery, control and back-office systems)
Infrastructure knowledge (Raw Iron, Steel Cloud, ElasticCloud, OpenStack, AWS, DRM)
Expert knowledge of software designing software, such as VisioSkillsAbility to read, write, speak and understand English
Effective troubleshooter of video processing and delivery systems
Effective writing and communication skills, able to package complex information in an easy-to-understand way
Ability to use personal computer and software
Ability to work in a team environment
In-depth knowledge in areas of specialty for specific applications, and general knowledge of supporting or integrating applications creating platform ecosystems
Basic knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model
Expert knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations
Ability to perform duties in a very fast paced, 24x7 support environment and ability to learn new technology quickly
Ability to use the following office equipment: personal computer, telephone, copier, fax, and calculator
Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Knowledge of Operating systems, Video Delivery and Control equipment and video monitoring systems

Preferred Qualifications

CCNA/CCNP
SCTE DVEP
Oracle
Splunk
Linux, Unix, or other system administration certification are helpfulSkillsKnowledge of Spectrum products and services
Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting video delivery or video applications. Hands on operational experience in performing video devices or systems upgrades, and Break/Fix activities
Experience with internal or external direct customer contact in a technical environment-Technical, Hub, Headend, VOD or Controller Operations, background within MSO or vendor network environment

The base pay for this position generally is between $88,330.00 and $156,530.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
