Job Title: Advanced Specialist, Benefits Description: You’ll play a key role in coordinating and enhancing Pearson’s global benefits operations, ensuring programs are aligned, compliant, and delivered efficiently while improving employee experience across a complex, international environment. Location: US Remote About the Role The Advanced Specialist, Benefits is a strategic and operational role supporting the coordination and execution of benefits across a complex, global environment. This position acts as a central point of alignment between benefits operations, organizational priorities, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure consistent, scalable, and efficient delivery of benefits programs. You will help shape and execute the organisation’s benefits vision while strengthening issue management, improving operational visibility, and reducing fragmentation across regions and programs. Acting as a trusted advisor to HR Business Partners, employees, and leadership, you will ensure benefit offerings are aligned to both business objectives and workforce needs. This role supports end-to-end benefits processes and administration, with a strong focus on communication, regulatory compliance, continuous improvement, and identifying scalable and cost-effective automation opportunities. You will collaborate closely with global benefits managers and wider HR teams to support daily operations in line with the Benefits roadmap and evolving organisational priorities. Key Responsibilities Benefits Operations & Administration Manage the day-to-day administration of health, retirement, wellness, and leave programs across multiple countries, including benefit cycles, audits, and employee and manager training. Lead support for end-to-end benefits processes, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and operational efficiency. Act as the senior escalation point for complex benefits issues, working with payroll, finance, legal, and external partners to resolve challenges. Strategy, Coordination & Improvement Support the coordination and execution of global benefits initiatives aligned to organisational objectives. Identify risks, dependencies, and operational insights, escalating proactively to support effective decision-making. Drive continuous process improvement and identify opportunities for automation and scalable solutions. Lead cross-functional collaboration to evaluate, select, and launch new or enhanced benefits offerings. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication Partner with HR Business Partners, leadership, and internal stakeholders to understand needs and gather functional requirements. Develop and deliver clear communication campaigns to educate employees and managers on benefits changes and opportunities. Gather feedback from employees and stakeholders to enhance the overall benefits experience and engagement. Compliance, Reporting & Data Management Support compliance with local legislation and regulatory requirements across multiple regions. Monitor plan utilisation and produce insightful reporting and recommendations for senior leadership. Collect, integrate, and manage data from multiple systems, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and security. Collaboration & Ways of Working Work effectively within a matrixed, international, and virtual environment supporting a distributed or hybrid workforce. Collaborate with global Benefits Managers and cross-functional teams to support roadmap delivery and local implementation where required. Skills & Experience Communication & Stakeholder Management Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across global teams and stakeholders. Ability to create clear documentation, training materials, and communications for diverse audiences. Time Management & Organisation Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, complex environment. Strong judgement in prioritisation, deadline management, and data-driven decision-making. Problem Solving & Analytical Thinking Strong knowledge of employee benefits programs, administration, and regulatory considerations. Proactive and inquisitive problem solver with excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to translate operational challenges into practical, scalable solutions. Customer & Employee Experience Self-motivated professional with a strong commitment to service excellence and employee experience. Ability to build trust and credibility with colleagues, stakeholders, and external partners. Experience & Technical Skills 6+ years of experience in benefits, total rewards, or benefits administration. Proven experience ensuring benefits compliance, supporting audits, and managing vendor and TPA relationships. Experience working with benefits systems and HRIS platforms such as Workday, ADP, or similar. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data handling within complex systems. About the Team You will work closely with the global Benefits team and cross-functional stakeholders to support daily operations and strategic initiatives aligned to the Benefits roadmap. This role plays a key part in improving operational alignment, scalability, and the overall effectiveness of benefits delivery across regions. Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location.
