CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) delivers medical care to a wide variety of patients. The APRN is also examines and treats patients independently and in autonomous collaboration with other health care professionals. Ensures proper illness and injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. May prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests. Advises patients about continuing care.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
+ Performs and documents complete physical examinations and comprehensive health histories .
+ Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for patients.
+ Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s age-specific needs.
+ Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities .
+ Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability.
+ Assists with the provision of care in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations.
+ Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
+ Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings, e.g. admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
+ Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals .
+ Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools.
+ Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Education:
Master’s d egree in relevant field
Certification and Licensing:
Valid State of Florida APRN License
Experience:
Candidates with a m inimum 2 years of relevant experience as a nurse practitioner preferred. Candidate s with a minimum of 3 years of outpatient nursing experience caring for patients with spine related issues are highly preferred.

+ Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
+ Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
+ Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
+ Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
+ Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
Department Specific Functions
+ Performs and documents complete specialized examinations, e.g. shoulder evaluations, lymphedema measurements , skin inspections
+ Performs and documents functional assessment, including Mobility, Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) , Instrumental ADLs, Bowel/ Bladder Continence and Cognition .
+ Assists with Rehabilitation procedures, including bioimpedance , perometry and icg lymphography administration , circumferential tape measurement and musculoskeletal injections.
+ Understands and appropriately prescribes Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, lymphedema therapy, Speech / Language Pathology, exercise physiology, acupuncture, music Therapy, Recreational Therapy , lymphedema garments, lymphedema pump and Dietary interventions.
+ Performs Peer-Peer discussions with insurance companies.
+ Interfaces with outpatients via Uchart email, secure email, Phone call for acutre medical concerns and diagnostic updates.
+ Provides education when appropriate to learners affiliated with or approved by University of Miami Miller School of Medicine
+ Assists with clinical research patient interventions and logistics when appropriate .
+ Provide appropriate counseling to patients.
+ Communicate with Oncology team and referring providers.

The University of Miami/ UHealth Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation has an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (A RNP ) to assist our Cancer Rehabilitation physicians in the care of cancer survivors at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center - UHealth outpatient. The ARNP also examines and may treat patients independently and in autonomous collaboration with other health care professionals.
