Overview PSYCHIATRIC MENTAL HEALTH NURSE PRACTITIONER PROS Program Located in Riverhead, NY St. Catherine of Siena Hospital is a proud member of Catholic Health and has served the residents of the Smithtown area for more than 50 years. St. Catherine's is located on the north shore of Long Island in Smithtown. Job Details Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Position Summary: Provides medically necessary psychiatric services, including but not limited to pre-admission screening, psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, clinical counseling and therapy, medication management, medication education and self-management, and appropriate case record documentation of series provided. Provides clinical supervision for the SCS PROS Program. Provides care and treatment to patients requiring professional expertise, in a manner that is clinically appropriate, suited to the patient’s individual needs and skillfully, safely and humanely administered with respect for the patient’s dignity and personal integrity. Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities: Performs psychiatric examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnosis and treatment to St Catherine of Siena PROS program participants as required. Participates in 24-hour, 7 day-per-week coverage as scheduled. Provides liaison/consultative services to St Catherine of Siena PROS program participants as indicated. Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed patient conditions. Refers patients to specialist and to relevant patient care components as appropriate. Coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required. Provides clinical supervision of the PROS program Provides care and treatment to patients requiring professional expertise, in a manner that is clinically appropriate, suited to the patient’s individual needs, and skillfully, safely, and humanely administered with respect for patient’s dignity and personal integrity. Complete no less than ninety-five (95%) of patient charts and medical records within five (5) days of rendering patient care. Participates in specified health promotion, education and prevention programs. Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Promotes highest quality, cost effective care based on the best medical evidence. Make best efforts to keep current with developments in psychiatry and related areas through CME programs, medical literature review and medical staff conferences. Cooperate in PROS Program quality, safety and risk initiatives related to the services, including participating in mandatory in-service training as outlined in PROS program policies, and as reasonably requested by the Chairperson of Department, CMO and his/her designees. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of psychiatric care. Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids. Ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage. Ability to deliver effective psychiatric care within an out-patient environment. Maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards. Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements. Knowledge of current principles, methods, and procedures for the delivery of psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis and treatment. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Submit timely and accurate billing information as appropriate. Keep current with medical records documentation and respond in a timely manner to requests for chart review and completion Ability to develop and present educational programs and workshops. Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Requirements: Education: Successful completion of Nurse Practitioner program from an accredited school required. Licensure/Certification: Current New York State Registered Nurse license- PMHNP (Psychiatric –Mental Health Nurse Practitioner) Trained in adult psychiatry. BLS certified. Experience: Experience in out-patient case management required; hospital experience preferred. Salary Range USD $69.54 - USD $90.00 /Yr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
