What you'll do...
Utilizing modern electronic collaboration tools to communicate and collaborate with cross-functional groups, such as Industrial Engineering (Ind Eng), Materials, Planning, and Logistics (MP&L), Business and Finance (B&F), Product Development (PD), New Model Programs (NMP), Advanced Manufacturing, etc., to drive continuous improvement initiatives from a design for manufacturing perspective.
Develop, replicate, and showcase manufacturing technologies that support Ford’s Technical Excellence Awards mission statement and scale up the manufacturing department's participation in the award submission process. Guide project manufacturing engineers to resolve major manufacturing issues across programs and implement continuous improvement actions. Co-develop process feasibility equipment to advance industrialization readiness of process tooling Represent the technical voice of manufacturing for process change requests in existing assembly systems and maximize value to the customer. Identify, assess, and select suppliers and subcontractors for manufacturing process technology. Lead/Support Engineering Peer Review meetings for the global manufacturing process teams. Support training pathways and develop competency in manufacturing technology skills related to Cell-to-Pack assembly processes. Provide technical guidance on the developed strategies, procedures, and guidelines for delivering manufacturing programs from pre-program to launch. Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to identify design changes to reduce potential failure modes, ensure the manufacturing point of view is captured in the Design FMEA, and ensure special and critical characteristics are achievable for manufacturing while providing value to the customer. Support/drive protection of Ford’s Intellectual Property (IP) during process development Provide technical guidance in implementing Virtual Engineering Transformation initiatives and support Ford’s directives to reduce engineering hours required to achieve a goal. Utilize 3D CAD to author or revise component parts. Create part touching fixtures using GD&T principles to ensure part design conforms to tooling and assembly tolerances.
