This individual will supervise, evaluate, audit, and assist District Managers and provide guidance on policy and procedural matters. This position is located in Cheyenne at the WDOC Central Office. The Wyoming Department of Corrections contributes to public safety by exercising reasonable, safe, secure, and humane management, while actively providing offenders opportunities to become law-abiding citizens. The Field Services Division is responsible for the community supervision and case management of probationers and parolees. Human Resource Contact:megan.sims@wyo.govor 307-857-3326 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level. + Coordinates with those involved in the development of the overall mission, goals, and objectives of Field Services. + Development of WDOC strategic plan. + Provides direct oversight of the assigned region. + Supervise, evaluate, audit, and assist District Managers. + Provides input into the division’s specialized programs, including Drug Court, Therapeutic Community Programs, Intensive Supervision, Adult Community Corrections, and Re-Entry programs. + Monitors budget expenditures and assists in the development of the budget. + Meets with judges, prosecutors, mental health providers, and other professional agencies to ensure offender needs and supervision standards are met. + Oversees and directs special projects within the district. + Assist District Managers and Human Resources staff on grievances, complaints, and disciplinary actions. + Assist in hiring Field Service employees. Qualifications PREFERENCES: Preference may be given to candidates who have 3-5 years of management experience in the Community Criminal Justice Field, specifically at the level of a District Manager. KNOWLEDGE: + Knowledge of human behavior, crisis behavior, and substance use, abuse, and addiction. + Knowledge of the criminal justice system, department policies, and procedures. + Knowledge of criminal and legal law. + Knowledge of procedures used in criminal justice agencies and cognitive behavior programs. + Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, with staff and other professionals. + Ability to exercise good judgment when making decisions in highly stressful situations. + Ability to analyze information from various sources. + Ability to engage others in innovative solutions. + Ability to create and implement new concepts and ideas to motivate others. + Skilled in organization, time management, group facilitation, and problem-solving. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor's Degree (typically in Criminal Justice) Experience: 2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Adult Probation and Parole) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Adult Probation and Parole Manager OR Education & Experience Substitution: 5-7 years of progressive work experience (typically in Adult Probation and Parole) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Adult Probation and Parole Manager Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None Necessary Special Requirements PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: + May require extensive travel throughout the designated districts and statewide. + Candidate must complete defensive tactics skills KRAV-MAGA.
