Responsibilities The Administrator ensures quality and safe delivery of Hospice services; coordinates services that reflect Hospice's philosophy and standards of care; and plans, develops, implements and evaluates Hospice services, programs and activitiesOrganizes and directs Hospice’s ongoing liaison among the Governing Body and staffEmployees qualified personnel and ensures adequate staff education and evaluationsEnsures the accuracy of public information materials and activitiesImplements an effective budgeting and accounting system; assures accuracy for billing proceduresShares copies of philosophy with all employeesConsistently follows Hospice policies and procedures to set an example for employeesNegotiates required contracts and ultimately oversees contract provisionsAssesses employees on an ongoing basis to ascertain their understanding of policies and proceduresAssists employees to support policies and achieve necessary changesUniformly enforces policies and proceduresMaintains two way communication with employees and fair administration of personnel policiesDocuments employee problems in personnel filesDisciplines employees as necessaryDirects Hospice's ongoing functionsMonitors budget hours and does not exceed allowance each yearMonitors equipment abuse and takes steps to keep it to a minimumEvaluates effectiveness and efficiency of HospiceUses statistical data to determine quality and quantity of servicesMaintains compliance with applicable federal, state and local rules and regulations and accreditation standardsSupervises all business affairsDevelops, implements and evaluates financial policies and procedures and recordsDevelops, implements and evaluates budget plan and cost control policies and procedures Develops and implements salary program within approved policies and proceduresParticipates in personal professional growth and developmentPlans and directs operations to ensure the provision of adequate and appropriate care and servicesFiscal planning, budgeting and managementRecruits employees and retains qualified personnel to maintain appropriate staffing levelsEstablishes and maintains effective channels of communicationEnsures personnel have current clinical information and material about current practicesEvaluates services and programsEnsures staff development including orientation, in service education and continuing educationCoordinates with other program areas and management as appropriateMaintains current knowledge of local trends and issuesEnsures that appropriate service policies are developed and implementedDirects staff in performance of their duties including admission, discharge and provision of service to patientsAssures appropriate staff supervision during all operating hoursEnsures the accuracy of public information materials and activitiesEstablishes and oversees the Quality Assessments/Performance Improvement Program Appoints a similarly qualified alternate to be available at all times during operating hours in the absence of the Administrator
