This vacancy is located in the Special Operations Unit of the Office of Louisiana State Police.

The Emergency Services Unit of the Special Operations -Emergency Response Section is designated under the Federal Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA, Title HI) and the Louisiana Hazardous Materials Information Development, Preparedness, and Response Act as the central repository for all Tier Two chemical inventory filings. Additionally, the Emergency Services Unit is responsible for administering the HazardousMaterialsHotline,functioningasasupportmechanismtotheOfficeofStatePoliceandtheDepartment of Environmental Quality and supporting Louisiana's chemical response efforts. The incumbent receives direct supervision from an Administrative Program Manager 2.
Filling this position will permit the Right to Know Unit to continue accomplishing the objective of effectively recording and resolving Haz-Mat incidents for the state of Louisiana.
Minimum Qualifications
Four years of experience in administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus one year of experience in administrative services; OR
A bachelor's degree plus one year of experience in administrative services; OR
An advanced degree.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Answers the Hazardous Materials Hotline and enters into the Hazardous Incident Tracking System (HITS) database hazardous material incidents, including explosives incidents, suspicious substance incidents and investigations.
+ Accepts electronic notifications of incidents and treats them in the same manner as a report made by telephone.
+ Accepts updates and enters them into the HITS database in the existing or ongoing incident report as necessary.
+ Makes electronic or telephonic notification to all involved parties regarding reported incidents.
+ Reviews incidents taken after hours for accuracy and follows up on any unclear information to ensure records reflect the true nature of the incident reported. Reviews after hours audio recordings of the Hotline for accuracy, ensuring that the information reported is the same as the information entered into the database.
+ Opens, stamps and distributes incoming mail to the appropriate personnel.
