About this Job
The Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology regulates and monitors the field of cosmetology in the state as necessary to assure the public health and welfare of its citizens. The agency assures that individuals receiving licenses meet the educational requirements established by law and that licensed professionals maintain the highest standard while providing services to the public. To maintain an active Board while fulfilling all legal requirements set by Louisiana law over 12 meeting days each calendar year. To conduct all agency business in a professional and efficient manner in the issuance of licenses, student testing, and necessary inspections as established by state law. To collect all revenue from license fees or fines as established under state law, keeping accurate records thereof, and standing for audits and legislative compliance each fiscal year. To maintain license issuance and renewal on a daily basis. To provide for students testing at the Board office on a regular scheduled basis, with at least 8 testing days per month. To provide for salon and school inspections at least twice annually for each such license issued. To maintain an adequate staff of well-trained employees under civil service rules and regulations, to deliver courteous service to the public

Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience in administrative services.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Responsible for the processing of all accounts received by and payable to the Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology.
+ Processing includes the daily collection, sorting and batching of all incoming checks and money orders, assigning deposit authority to each batch and individual accounts, as well as electronically depositing said monies in the State Treasury Cosmetology Board Fund bank account.
+ Responsible for the processing of all online payments received by the Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology.
+ Processing includes the verification, batching, and electronic depositing of said monies into the State Treasury Cosmetology Board Fund bank account
+ Responsible for the accuracy of monies deposited into the State Treasury Cosmetology Board Fund bank account.
+ Responsibility includes taking corrective action when/if a discrepancy of deposit is found and reported.
+ Independently develops and maintains the database containing a detailed tracking system to monitor and track all monies received by the Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology.
+ Responsible for entry of tracking information into the database maintained on the COSMO system computers.
+ Provides and maintains financial security by following internal control procedures that include but are not limited to independently compiling end-of-the-month reconciliation revenue sub-account reports for submission to the accountant to ensure that non-fraudulent activity has not occurred and is in accordance with all federal and state regulations.
+ Serves as the liaison for any questions and/or concerns about the information contained in the reports.
+ Computes a tally after the subordinate completes data entry on all deposits entered into the COSMO system, verifying the accuracy of the deposit and allocation of monies. Attaches a copy of the receipt from the computed tally to the monthly revenue report and provides such information of revenues to the Accountant for verification of reconciliation and allocation of revenue to budget activity programs.
+ Responsible for corrections and/or changes to revenue activity and reporting of such to the Accountant.
+ Independently oversees the daily operations of the mail center for the Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology.
+ Sorts and routes incoming state mail accordingly.Collects and distributes school, inspection, and departmental paperwork received through the USPS mail.Incumbent exercises direct supervision of an Administrative Coordinator 2 and provides training for the staff in the mail center.
+ Incumbent is responsible for approval and/or disapproval of all leave requests from subordinates, in addition incumbent is responsible for overseeing subordinates’ job duties and reflecting such on a PES annual evaluation.

Work Schedule:Work hours are 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday-Friday.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
